View Full Version : The biggest loser- Don Donatello

Without a doubt this guy defines the word loser. I was watching TGC the other night and he is getting all fired up about playing in the BIg Break and beating the girls and the other "players". He;s talking like he's in the US Open! He drops all these cliche lines that athletes give and talks about his "will to win". There is nothing more pathetic than the average joes that think they are as good as pros and they missed their shot, or they got dealt a bad hand. He hits bad shots and freaks out and it looks like he's going to cry, " I need to make this putt or I'm going home" This guy belongs with the other losers on Pros vs Joes, they take the sport so seriously and whine when things don't pan out. Brutal. I'm so glad Don didn't win the 1st time around, what an idiot.

Don is a complete dork. That is all. We are told he is married, and I for one find that incomprehensible.

Who is she, and what is wrong with her?

Last I know, he was caddying for Kevin Na.

not that Im a huge fan, but keep in mind DD can still clean all of your guys clocks on the course.

he shoots relatively good scores in hooters tour events on long courses.

lol

so ok, how many + handicaps are on here then? thats what a playa is.

Don is by all accounts, a pretty cool guy. he got portrayed in a certain light (which he added to ofcourse) on the show, but most ppl that know him seem to say hes alright. im not a big fan or anything, just saying.

again, hes a good player and would beat most everyone on here.

how many pro events on +7100 yard courses have you guys actually ever played in? or has anyone played stage 1 in Q school? not saying others havent done that, but its easy to think that those arent good acomplishments, when in fact they are.

are you even reading my posts?

again:

'how many pro events on +7100 yard courses have you guys actually ever played in? or has anyone played stage 1 in Q school?"

point me to the scores from the guys on this thread

again, hes no tiger, (and im certainly no fan) but he can get it around. personally, i take tv with a fairly large grain of salt, so hes most likely not like seemed on the show, but "good tv".

wishing him and kevin the best for 08.

edit: here's some dd scores i found

YES
...are you reading mine....
...even Tiger doesn't WIN all the time (just lately)

I also had a similar conversation with Randy Block a few weeks ago when I met him in San Antonio!

...no doubt DD is better than most of us (certainly me & my 14 handicap), but there really are some good players on this board (I've seen many of them play), and for one last time (not to beat a dead horse), since this banter between you & I is going nowhere, as we agree to disagree....on any given day... ;)

Hi, been reading your posts. Some decent scores for Don. That g-note he won he should spend on anger management. ;) Doesn't mean he isn't for the a jackass in most people's opinion sans Na.

I will step up and play if you are the challenger. Sounds like fun. Will wager a few bucks to make it interesting. I don't think Don can meet me for a round this summer.

Say what you want about him as a person (im not even addressing that but feel free to continue), but he does have some game, as opposed to what the original poster stated, thats all im saying.

If people on this site are a representative sample of the general golfing population (weekend warriors at the beginner/intermediate/advanced levels), I would have to agree that very few on this board could beat DD.
I play with good players all the time and hit balls on a regular basis with teaching pros at the golf course near my home and I am always amazed at how different ball striking is when you watch the touring pros do it. Granted that DD is not Vijay Singh but he has played at the Nationwide level and the guys on that tour are very close in ability to the PGA.

I think the OP's point is that DD is a loser because the obnoxious way he carries himself - He is not quesitoning his playing ability, especially his ability to kick 99% of the people here's butts?

slightdraw
Mar 26, 2008, 01:03 PM
I've never said that he couldn't play, I just think he's pathetic with the way the carries himself and acts. He makes it sound like Big Break is the US Open, he tries to be ultra competetive, its just sad watching someone that thinks he has been dealt a bum hand and that golf owes him something. My favourite is when a shot douesn't turn out like he planned, and its anybody elses fault but his, the wind, the lie, etc. Guys like him are a dime a dozen, there are thousands of guys as good as him that carry themselves with respect and don't sound like idiots every time they open their mouths.

DD is pathetic to make the BB sound like the US Open when we all know that the Ryder Cup being played at Trillium Woods this may IS bigger than the US Open

then edit out this then in your original post;

"There is nothing more pathetic than the average joes that think they are as good as pros"

you clearly gave the impression that DD couldnt play as well as a pro.

he is a pro and like another poster said, hes played on some nationwide events. hes a good ball stiker and hes far from an "average joe"

attitude probs..sure. ill give you that.

btw: thats the exact same attitude that Dave Stockton employs to talk about bad shots. he never admits that its his fault. Will blame something else...anything.

granted Stockton does it in a more positive way, but alot of players use that method (deflect blame) in order to keep their confidence up. not saying DD does it "well", but you make so many sweeping generalizations in your posts, its hard to leave them be.

Read his Putt to Win to get some more insight. Great book on attitude and putting.

If DD could play as well as a pro, he would be a pro full time on the PGA , not a part timer on the Nationwide tour, and he obviuosly wasn't good enough to stay out there or he would be out there. I just think at some point he should face facts that he's not good enough and concentrate on family, I think alot of wannabe's out there should too. If it hasn't happened by now its not going to. As far as Stockton goes, that's a brutal attitude, why can't they admit it when they hit a bad shot, they hit it, they can deflect blame all they want but they know who hit the shot.

jamesduncan
Mar 26, 2008, 03:51 PM
DD isnt playing now..hes caddying (and hes a good one..great green reader).

and what im trying to simply point out that the level on the nationwide and PGA is so high, that its easy to laugh off someone like DD who couldnt make it out there (who is a pro!)..but head to head with the average player (like most of you guys on here laughing at him), hes still a very good player.

and just so we're clear here: youre saying one of the best putters in the history of the PGA tour has a brutal attitude?

nice one. point taken.

I've caddied for Adam Scott, Erik Compton, and Graham Delaet. In all 3 cases when they hit a bad shot, they would walk over to the bag after and I said "the wind got it" or " bad club" and they always said " no, just a bad shot" and they moved on. Why would a golfer fool themselves into thinking it wasn't their fault? Sure Stockton won with that attitude, but is that what's holding Sergio back? I've played with a few guys who have been on the Nationwide and they don't act like him and they aren't caddying now, why is he? If he's making his money caddying now then he's not a pro golfer, he's a pro caddy.

jesus h chist almightly lol

can we leave well along DDs attitude already in response to my posts?

I AGREE. DD HAS A TERIBLE ATTITUDE AND THE WAY HE ACTS IS MOST LIKELY THE REASON HE HASNT MADE IT PAST ROUND 1 IN Q SCHOOL.

there. is this clear now? lol
you said (or intoned) in your post that DD coldnt play.

he can play.

thats simply all im saying.

im not saying hes tiger, but I am saying he can play, and agreed, if he fixed his attitude, he might actually have some success.

but im also saying that hes not as bad (tude wise) as they made him seem on the show, but DD sure helped them along with lots of material.

why dont you just man up and just admit that DD can play already, instead of bring up all the peope youve caddied for and who youve played with etc etc? lol

anyways, signing off this thread that just goes round in circles. maybe get adam scott to come and post for you next. maybe that will keep things on track lol.
