Arjun Atwal wins Malaysian Open in a playoff at -18. He was cleared of his charges last week from the driving incident. WOW what a comeback from the mental part and put it all behind and win a golf tourny

That clown should be in jail, not living the life on tour.

As a rule I try to stick to commenting on strictly golf related threads and avoid anything that ventures into political or personal lives of the golfers........but................
None of us know what happened in Florida. The Police investigated the incident and based on their investigation Atwal was told that he had no charges to face.
I am sure we all feel for the individual that lost his life and all those affected by the accident, but, to state that Atwal should be in jail is plain wrong. :nono:

Sounds like Atwal got the Danny Heatley treatment, which is exactly my problem. It was widely reported that Atwal and his friend were street racing when the accident happened. Maybe its ok to do that in florida, but bottom line, he contributed to another persons death, which, in my books, requires punishment of some form.

See, here is the problem with your statement...........John Park, who died in the other car, was NOT a friend of Atwals - they did not know each other. If that fact is wrong then there is a chance that your supposition that they were street racing is also wrong.
The only time that this was reported as a potential street race was immediately after the accident by the Florida Highway Patrol, but even then they also predicated it with “What they were doing, whether or not one was mad - we don’t know yet”.
Exactly - "we don't know yet". It would appear that once they found out what happened they were quick to clear Atwal of any potential charges.
With regard to drawing similarities to the Danny Heatley incident, whilst they both involve fatalities as a result of a car accident they also have critical differences. Heatley was driving the car in which his passenger was killed, therefor his actions directly contributed to the death of the passenger. However, in Atwal's case his actions may have had nothing to do with the other driver's death or have been a very minor contributing factor. We just don't know.

My question is how did he loose his card? If he was hospitalized after the crash, would he not be medically exempt???
