Hi Golf Nuts

I have spare driver with an R flex Graphite Shaft that I am considering taking it off; shorting it to a six iron length and reshafting it onto a MacGregoer VFoil Golong 19 deg head.
The reason is that I am very consistance and accurate with any club below 5, the distances are not great I shoot 150 yards with my 6 iron, but at least it's repeatable and accurate.

Seeking you endless golf wisdom do you think I ma doing the right thing or I will just waste a shaft.

Personally, I think its a waste of time and a shaft. There are specific graphite shafts out there for irons & hybrids...you should pick one up.

By taking a driver shaft out, that is very lite to begin with, and cut it to 6-iron length...the swing weight for one will be waaaaayyy out of whack. Plus cutting down a driver shaft that short may compromise the performance charactoristics.

I would definately advise against it.

Thanks for the reply, but will it be okay to install a 6 iron shaft, steel or grahpite, on a 2 iron head

Beyond just having to cut it down, you'll have to shim it to fit a .370 head... that's a LOT of space to fill.

An iron shaft tipped for a 6 iron going into a 2 iron head will play pretty stiff (compared to it being in a 6 iron).

But, I'm all for experimentation! Go for it! Worst case scenario, you'll have to put the shaft back in the 6 iron. No loss there.

Okay, I have just returned from NB, asked them to re-attach the head to the orginial steel Shaft but after cutting the shaft to a six iron length.
So once I get it I will head for some golf simulators  to hit it and see what is the difference.

If I got good results.. I might just trim my 3, 4 and probabbly 5 irons too.

If not then I have put this one to rest forever :D
