Hi Nuts!
Just wanted to know what everyone does for a living? I'm in marketing and self employed so I'm able to sneak off once in a while for a late afternoon round mostly in July/August when its a bit slower.
Just curious,

Hey Dave, a couple of things. Marketing isn't very specific so elaborate if you will. Secondly if you're self employed, who are you sneaking off from? Never mind....you must be married.:D

After 28 years working for a natural gas company, I now do customs brokerage on an overnight shift. I love it. A far cry from my former management days. No worries, a weekly pay check. Lots of golf time and I am ever creeping towards my future job as an escort to retired rich ladies in Florida for golfing dancing dining. I might even have a Viagra or two left over.

Me, retired (as in sent to the showers) from pharmaceutical sales after 25 years...easy good paying gig, tons of time to play golf and get good.
Now teaching golf full time April to Sept, and no time to play anymore, so my game sucks! Maybe I'll go back to selling drugs. Just been offered 20 hours a week back in pharma sales, so not bad.
I really want to buy a driving range, but Mr. Pratt hasn't come through for me yet. Well I've stil got another 30 or so left, maybe 40 if the DNA is good.

Um, what would one want to do with those courses? Other than teaching, I couldn't think of something off the top of my head, so you might have to enlighten us that don't know too much about this area of education. :)
Did you ever think your GF's parents are busting your nads because they are just concerned for their daughter? I remember way back when, when computers were considered "geeky" and all my GF's parents looked at me like some video game junkie.

That's very interesting to hear, I hadn't heard that yet, but I've been trying to avoid the rumour mill around this area all winter. My course has just gone through a buyout also and the rumours are still out of control.
That little course is one of the hidden gems in this area, another 9 like they have now would definitely be worth a few visits. :)

Yes a very nice 9 holes. I'll put the rumour mill to rest. Here's a listing by the new owner. He's changed the name of the golf course. The 2nd nine was scraped last fall. This course didn't sell last year for $1.7M and now it's listed for $6.5M

I have a Marketing and Media firm. I just partnered with someone else who offers promotional products to complete the services we offer. We're located in Brampton and looking to expand this year.
We handle anything from marketing plans and strategy to print and promo products.
It's quite rewarding seeing a full marketing plan come to fruition.

Well, let's see:
I managed an Environment Health & Safety Department for the last 5 years at a major japanese automotive parts manufacturer supplying a major japanese automotive manufacturer. My background leading into this area was as an ergonomic consultant and researcher specializing in participartory ergonomic approaches. Fell in love with golf in university while working as a sport biomechanist in a research lab specializing and hockey and golf analysis.
So there it is. I sit at a desk all day......:hyper:

Good idea for a thread.
I'm a university English professor and creative writer. The first takes too much time from the second, but neither prevents me from golfing.

I'm an architect who works for a Green Bay WI based company called KI (check out the Packer post game interviews and you'll see our logo on the background).
Position and sell a unitized movable wall system to large companies across Canada so they can fit out space quicker and have the ability to make changes easily...all part of an environmentally friendly solution.

I guess I'm part of that thread that referred to us as the slimiest profession, called car salespeople, I work for LandRover/Jaguar, been for the last 16 years. Don't think I was ever a slime ball though.
Before that I was a Special Ed. teacher for Autistic kids and M.R and then a teacher in a phase 2 facility.

Title is "Senior Trading Strategist".
I work for an Agency Brokerage in Toronto. Primarily responsible for research into Market Micro-structure topics, equity trading algorithms, as well as some fundamental single-name based analysis.
And no, I am NOT worried about my job right now. I am lucky to work for one of the few companies on the street where I don't have to be worried right now.
