Does anyone know of a course where I can get some hands-on experience grinding? I'd like to attend somewhere in ON, preferably east Sudbury.

Bring your 'C' game to the course and you can then 'Grind' it out.
Oh you are talking about custom alterning wedges ... good luck!!

Thanks Harry. Sadly, I'm a much better club guy than I am golf guy. I bring my A game and still have to grind it out!

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought that it would be about playing at The National. That's the way it felt to me, anyways---grinding (and chewed me up and spat me out).

first of all familiarize yourself with the different types of recognized grinds. Read up on what makes a particular grind effective for a certain type of lie.
A good source is the Ping WRX site. It has a PDF file to download which clearly shows the different grind styles.
Scratch Golf has some info as well.
Don't use a Dremmel or bench grinder. They give poor results. A disk grinder is better than either of those. You need to invest in a good upright belt sander if you want to make this a successful hobby.

Thanks Dekker.
I'm actually considering the 'Big Jet' - an 8" 1HP bench grinder with multitool arm.
I find with an angle grinder it's pretty easy to get a little careless (I got a fair bit aggressive on a T grind)
I've been to (and often reference) the Ping WRX site.
It just seems like a cool 'value add' that not many folks offer (but that people seem to want).
