Comfortable on tour and in his new land, Korean K.J. Choi wants to be the first Asian male to win a major.
I think he has the game what do you think?

Thats a good question, I like KJ and I think he's a great golfer, but to me he seems like the quintessential "safe" golfer, he never goes for too much and never gets himself in trouble, and I question whether that can win in a major. Maybe he has a shot at a US Open because his driving is so good, he would avoid penalizing himself in the rough.
I hope he does though, he seems like a genuinely nice guy and I enjoy seeing him out there playing.

I think K.J. could win a major and I'd love to see him do it. He's not going to win with spectacular shots or a lightning comeback, but through solid, steady play. At 37, he doesn't have much time to pull it off, though, so he's got to do it in the next few years.
(BTW: Nitpicky point, but Tiger Woods was the first Asian male to win a major.)

I as well would like to see KJ win a Major. He`s got the game, poise and mental toughness. It will be tough though, I think there are a few guys that are all in his class and younger. Besides, being on Tour during the Tiger era makes it that much tougher. Tiger`s going to win his share which limits fewer Majors for the rest of the guys.

I think KJ could definetly win a major, perhaps not the PGA or the Masters (tournaments that have risk/reward options and "go for the gusto" hols) but perhaps the US or British Open (tournaments where fairways and greens are essential to scoring). I agree with cldale's opinon that KJ is "safe" and thats why I think he'd fare well in the Opens

Great game and what seems to me like even better mental drive. He looks like rock out there. Great player IMO and very good chance at on the 4 in the near future, again IMO.

I'm not sure if it would be classified as "south Asian" or not, but Vijay is from Fiji in the South Pacific. As for Choi, I too think he's got the game for winning a major. No, I don't think he's as agressive as some of the other "top" players, but the someone won the Masters last year playing every par 5 as a 3 shot hole (not exactly agressive since he's definitely got the length to get there most of the time). I think Choi is mentally tough enough to compete in majors and will eventually win one. I would think with his iron play and short game, I would think it would be the PGA Championship.

Vijay is of South Asian heritage and is hence the first Asian to win a major. As I said earlier, if we're talking about heritage, Tiger Woods was the first Asian male to win a major. Choi would be the first Asian by nationality, I suppose. Vijay isn't Asian by nationality, and as far as heritage goes, he was after Tiger.
