Thank God. There's less than 8 minutes to go and are Leafs are down 2 to the Bruins. In a few minutes all the dreamers who have been praying for a miracle can put the dream to rest until next year when we shoot for a banner 8th place. In case this is viewed as an anti-Leaf post, I've been Maple Leaf Blue since I could walk. This late resurgance was the kiss of death and the lead-in to another same o same o 2008-2009 season.

I would love to have a Leafs team that is worth rooting for. I've been to a few games this year, and the leafs are not a fun team to watch. They seem angry. Most of the time they don't play entertaining hockey.

I am a Sens fan, but in 2008 they have not been very good. They are my team so i will continue to cheer for them. Its nice to see the Canadiens make a resurgence - they were always my favourite team before the Sens showed up in 1992. I think that they could go all the way this year.

Again, I would love to cheer for the Leafs, but there is nothing to cheer for. Get a bunch of young and fun players. Even if they finish last - if they try hard, improve over time and don't complain incessantly the fans will support them.

Are they going to tank their last four games or go on a 4 game win streak?

Herith lies the hope and dreams of wananbe hacks who thought they could play Hockey in April.

RIP 2008

... the team next season will be "Radically" different from this season......

New players same result. I doubt if MLSE management have the fortitude to go though a proper rebuilding season without mucking it up.

Bob, did you have one tee many martoonies last night?

Ok, I have a soft spot for Leaf fans. Having been born in New Orleans, I've been a Saints fan since they were added to the league. I was at their first ever home game (10 blocks from my home at the time) where they scored a TD on the opening kickoff.....then didn't score another TD for 6 games! I'm still a Saints fan and prob always will be. And no, I've never been a "baghead" either. I've worn my Saints jacket everywhere proudly. At least the Leafs have one it all. I'm still waiting for the Saints. I'm sure they'll get there one day. (sigh)

And you know the team won't be blown up because.......???

I think the one main theme Fletcher has been saying for the 2 months he has been in the GM position is the team must get younger, and that there will be many changes for next year. Cliff was saying this BEFORE they were eliminated, and now that they are eliminated there is no reason to keep the team they way it is.

Although Huey and Duey who run MLSE are only concerned with $, they now know that many Leaf fans are no longer content with 6th-8th overall and a 1st or 2nd round exit. They also realize that the further the team goes in the playoffs the $ is generated for MLSE.

IMO....you will see a very different team next year. Either Mc Cable or Kubina will be gone. Sundin is probably gone too. I think Mats will retire, and even if he doesn't I am not sure Cliff is ready to spend the $6 million Sundin would ask for. I also think there will be some contract buy outs too. If Raycroft is still in the Leafs organization next year it will be with the Marlies and Pogge will be the back up for the Leafs.

Fletcher is not afraid to pull the trigger on big moves as his history proves, and a team who has missed the playoffs for 3 straight years needs to be rebuilt, which Fletcher will start doing very soon.

So here's a question. If our cast of clowns Mcbad, Tucker... are likely to be bought out or traded are they playing for the future or do they even have a future anywhere?

Both Tucker and McCabe are good useful role players. McCabe is a top 4 defenceman anywhere but is he number one? Tucker is a good 3rd line grinder that can score the odd goal here and there.

It's just too bad that they are over paid and the expectations are too high due to the high salaries. If they are traded or released, it will be close to a Larry Murphy situation.

It didn't take teams long to figure out that you keep a guy on McCabe on the power play so Kaberle can't tee it up for him, and cover Tucker on his off wing to the right of the goalie and voila! Goal production in the toilet. I'm not sure what else these guys have contributed over the last 2 years. Also, am i wrong or does it look like Tucker is skating in cement lately?

He looks horrible out there.

I don't like the guy, but he was underpaid his whole career, then he gets a decent contract and sucks.

He has to go.

Also, I think Kaberle has had his worst season in the last 3. Maybe time for him to go also. He may be their best D-man, but that's like being tallest midget.

I think the main point is here NO ONE is "untouchable", including guys like Tucker, McCable and the rest of them.

I think what he was trying to say is there are too many role player, 3rd. & 4th. line types.

That's why sometimes they trade some one away and they have a resurgence.
