View Full Version : Bubba Watson Instruction To Playing Partner

I has just watching the replay of todays Zurich coverage. I heard Bubba ask his playing partner "would you please stop walking". You can't hear the response from who ever it was, but you could clearly hear Bubba respond to that comment with, "kiss my a..".
Anyone know who that playing partner was and if there is any history between them or just Bubba having a bad day. He did hit his next shot out of the ruff to about 1 foot. Maybe he should play mad all the time.

Turns out Elkington kept walking towards the hole while Bubba is ready to make his shot.
Bubba: Can you stop walking, man, damn! You did it all day yesterday... Fcukr...<mic fades, you can hear a commentator gasp>
Elkington: <not audible>
Bubba: Tell you what, <jumbled word> can kiss my a$$...
You get the hint that maybe Elkington threatened to tell the PGA on Bubba resulting in Bubba's final remark. Good thing for PVR... had to rewind that like 10 times and crank the vol up. :p
Yes, bad blood between the two.

My freind's nephew pulls that crap, he walks ahead all the time,
I was hitting a blind shot on one of the Par 5's at Copper Creek, I think it is on the front nine, there is water down front and I was in the long stuff short and right.
Before I hit my blind wedge shot I walked over so I could see the green and yelled "heads up" I hit it over the trees and landed on the green, I walk up and the guy says you almost hit me you know, he seemed a little shaken up.
I said sorry but you know maybe the green isn't such a great place to stand when someone is hitting an approach.
The guy is about 45 but acts like he is 12, one of those guys whose father has a P.H.D. if you know what I mean.
I don't want to seem like I'm a complainer but this person is my least favorite to play with but I like playing with my buddy at the Country Club.
My buddy tries to avoid getting in a game with his nephew if I'm coming as his guest because he knows he gets under my skin with his crappy etiquette
Boy do I feel better now.

Geez, Elk looked like he was 40 yards away.
See, Tiger acts like a jerk so his "practice" partner thinks it's his birthright too.
If Bubba played from the correct side of the ball Elk would have been behind him.

Ahhh, they cleared up some of on TGC. Elkington supposedly told Bubba that he should have more respect for the veteran players, hence Bubba's comment about veterans.

I think mosy players depending on the situation walk 40 yards ahead and more depending on line of sight. Elk should of been still while Bubba addresses the ball etc.. but walking ahead shouldn't be a problem as players do it alll the time.

AVONDALE, La. -- Les bon temps did not roule Friday afternoon at the Zurich Classic when Bubba Watson and Steve Elkington had a catfight on the back nine of the TPC Louisiana. Apparently, what happened was this:
Bubba detected some movement (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FOySaUc_Rc) while he was trying to play his approach shot from the right rough on the 10th hole. He felt it wasn't the first time Elkington was moving at inappropriate times and unleashed a torrent of expletives, a portion of which was captured by the Golf Channel's microphones.
Afterward, Elkington and Watson settled their differences in the scoring hut. They were playing with Shigeki Maruyama who emerged from the glass-walled tent with his usual smile, bobbing and weaving like Sugar Ray Leonard. "Big problem," Shigeki said as he walked away.
Elkington, who finished the day three shots off Briny Baird's lead of eight under par, left without speaking to the media. Watson, on the other hand, apologized to virtually anyone who wasn't moving, as it were. He said he and Elkington had "hugged it out."
"I want to apologize to everybody in the tournament," Watson said. "Everybody who heard it, whoever saw it, especially Steve and Shigeki and their caddies. I heard something and I took it out on them and shouldn't have done it. I apologize to the tournament, to anybody that's involved in this tournament, all the volunteers, all the caddies, the spectators, the kids that came out here. I'm not like Charles Barkley. I'd love to be a role model. I make mistakes. My mistake was I got angry today.
"Everything's good. He's not mad. He's looking at me like this is like his son, basically. I'm a lot younger, he took me aside and said, 'Look, be strong in what you're doing and make sure you don't do that.' I apologized to him as best I could."

I hate it when people move ahead or move at all while you're trying to hit. During a pre-shot routine, some movement is tolerable, as long as people keep quiet.
I actually had a instance where I was sharing a cart with a rookie golfer in the foursome; the other two got sick of waiting on one hole and actually drove to the green while we were at the 150 marker. The group behind saw them on the green and hit into us believing it was clear. I had to restrain myself from wrapping a five iron around their heads; good thing I like my clubs.
Bubba - nice job - it's always nice when a tour player experiences the same issues as us weekend warriors.

I don't worry about it, and I NEVER use it as an EXCUSE, like so many OTHERS do!!?
There are so many distractions, but if you 'zone them out' it shouldn't/doesn't really matter!!

Bubba did not threaten bodily harm, but he did make a unwanted advance to Elk by inviting him to kiss his behind.

I think Tiger said he would Break their neck.. Tomatoes, Tomatos.Could be -- I didn't hear the actual words. All I read in the media that it was an expletive-filled bodily threat, and someone told me it was what I quoted. You're probably right.
And anyone who says "to-mah-toes" should have their neck broken, in my opinion. :D

No Love! (Davis) :D
I wonder if that still plays on his brain regarding how he is percieved by fans/peers after incidents like that. Not to mention the Ryder Cup mishap with Garcia skipping like a little girl:rofl: down the fairway to congratulate Parnevik was it? but as sucky as a full-grown adult, who is one of the best at his profession, can get!
No love here.
Would be good to see him play well adn contend for a possible Ryder Cup birth.
No Love! (Davis) :D
When I think about the video footage of Davis, his caddie and maybe an officoal of some sort looking for the guy and threatening to stop play till someone fingers him, I bust a gut.
Then the camera shows a kinda geeky kid who loves Tiger so much he is trying to throw off Davis. It was priceless. It couldn't have been a more pathetic villian for Davis, to look a little foolish .

Watsons' conduct was poor and T.W.'s worse. Not to excuse either one but compared to cowardly acts like goaltender J.Roys' attack on another who he KNEW was not going to fight back,I can handle a little swearing. It's unfortunate though that our children have to hear and witness their 'heroes, role models' being involved in such incidents. Somewhere some little boy/girl will be using the f word because good ol' Bubba did. p.s. I think Roy is in for a surprise next time those 2 teams meet.
