Hey,
I need to upgrade the memory in an Intel Imac computer I am using.

My question is, I know the specs for the type of memory I need to purchase, but is there a specific brand or something I need to buy for a mac? Possibly a recommended brand or will any do?

Thanks

Go to either Cosair or OCZ sites and stay away from the cheap Chinese or Korean stuff.

I haven't had any problems with the kinston DDR2 so-dimms that i got for my intel macs..

here is the model number for a 1 gb stick: KVR667D2S5/1g

I also have other imac using 2x2gb sticks as well but it will require 10.5 to run as 10.5 is a true 64bit OS that will see more that 3gb.

You should be able to source a good price at jumbocomputers.ca or at Canadacomputers.

Crucial and Criterion are the best I've used...nothing wrong with Kingston either.

don't mix brands on a Mac,use the same type throughout.
I have used Corsair,Crucial,Infeneon,Samsung besides the Mac original.
A few geeks recommend Crucial above the rest.
