As some of you know I have a few friends in the music business. Last year one of them, Derek Trucks, played in Eric Clapton's Band for his world tour. This year The Derek Trucks Band is opening for Carlos Santana (at Carlos's request) except in Toronto. Carlos enjoys Derek's music enough to join Derek's band each night and to have Derek come out and playing during his set. Here are some youtube clips. Derek is the young man with the long blond hair.

Great post Mule! Carlos has always been one of my favourites. As for Derek, I first heard of him from you and have definitely become a big fan of his now.

Too bad not here in Toronto. I like some of the newer collaborations as much as Samba Pa Ti, Oyo Como Va, She's not there etc..

Great stuff. I have not heard of Derek Trucks before but I'll definitely be looking to hear more of this. I've been quite busy myself with some recording projects. I hope to gig much more this year. Unfortunately it means alot less golf than I've been enjoying the last couple of years.

We were at the same show, but you might want to check your ticket stub. The last time Derek played there was 07/14/00. He played the Phoenix in 2001 and then did not return until the jazz festival last year.
