View Full Version : Weekend of Aug.13-14

So what's up for this weekend guys/gals? I wouldn't mind playing a round or two with some TGN members and putting faces to names ... all in the name of fun, fun, fun.
Any courses in mind? Twilight is always best to keep costs down, but I'm cool with anything.
Post back if anything's happening!!

where are you looking to play?
Bogey-Bev
Aug 9, 2005, 02:09 PM
While I love to play on the higher-end courses, I usually adhere to the $40-$50 range in green fees to keep it practical (and of course to play more golf, and afford it at the same time) -- but like I said, I don't mind spending a little bit more for a good round.
I have not played on that many courses to tell you the truth, give or take ... so I'm easy either way. I'm from Mississauga and my boss can't stop raving about BraeBen. I played there when it was called Britannia Hills - but obviously there has many changes since then.
Any course is fine with me - any suggestions?

Pick a place between Toronto and Mississauga and I will play.
I am new to this game only played a month but I will try.:help:

Anyone and everyone is welcome to come - we're all here to enjoy the game.
YoYo- any suggestions where you'd like to play?
BTW, Golfer's Guide / Access coupons are always a plus!! Anyone have those?

Since you are both from Mississauga Braeben would be okay. Provided you and Yoyo are okay with it. :) Oh I am more of a mid-day person. Early bird for Mississauga is too early and Twilight a little late. I am from T.O

Tehflakes: I am around Bathurst st-St Clair Ave.
Bogey-Bev, Yoyo has picked Braeben which is good for me and hopefully Tehflakes you will also come and join us.
Now we just need a Time and Day. My vote is for mid-day Sat or Sun.;)
YoYoMoe
Aug 9, 2005, 11:08 PM
Mid-day is fine for me. Saturday is looking a little more promising weather wise but I can do either day just tell me when to show up and I'll be there.:)

Sunday is probably the best time for me as well! maybe a midmorning tee-off? BraeBen is 10 minutes away from where I am, so that's just fine!

Just checked BraeBen's website .. $62 for a weekend round... ouch. When it was called Britannia Hills it was $30!!
I have a 4 For 3 Fee coupon at Castlemore GCC in Brampton... would you guys like to play there instead?
Eaze
Aug 10, 2005, 11:35 AM
I'd like to play, but i'm not the greatest...I actually live border Mississ/Etob.
I've never even heard of the courses that y'all mentioned...thats how much of a noob I am. I usually travel quite a ways to play, so it would be nice to stay local...But definately like to get out play a round and meet some new people.
Anyway, early sunday would be ideal...
YoYoMoe
Aug 10, 2005, 12:25 PM
Sunday 10-11ish is fine for me. My preference is BraeBen but if consensus is Castlemore I'm willing to try it.
Bogey-Bev
Aug 10, 2005, 12:37 PM
Okay. I need make a tally when we want to tee-off, where we want to play and who exactly is going. Sunday @ 11AM seems to be the general agreed time.
So far the list is as follows for those who want to go:-
Myself
TehFlakes
YoYoMoe
Vet-Y2K
Eaze
Like I mentioned, BraeBen will be $62.00/per, carts, etc. are extra. To be more budget conscious, I have coupons of the following nature for Castlemore (which is a great course IMHO):
2 x "2 For 1" Green Fee with Cart rental
1 x "4 For 3" Green Fee, Carts extra
Reg. fee is $50/per for Castlemore ...
So what's the consensus? ;)
Eaze
Aug 10, 2005, 12:52 PM
Can we have 5'somes?
If nobody else is interested in playing, then i'll pass, so you 4 can go ahead...I was pretty late with my response anyway.
Vet-Y2K
Aug 10, 2005, 02:00 PM
Seems like everyone wants to try Braben. I am okay with the $62.00 and split the cart price. Castlemore is okay too.
Depending on where abouts are you Tehflakes you could ride with me.
Sunday 10-11am tee time would be great.
Ease I think a 5 some should be okay, almost like a mini-tourney.
Not that were all that good except for maybe Tehflakes.
I think it would be great if you can come.:)

Aug 10, 2005, 02:29 PM
If 5'somes are permitted, than i'm good to go. I just don't want to cause any inconvenience. In terms of time, Sunday 10-11am tee-off is good with me. I guess lastly, I need to know the directions of this Braben place...
YoYoMoe
Aug 10, 2005, 02:37 PM
Just called BraeBen and the first available tee time they have on Sunday is at 2:30, Castlemore has a tourney and they only have a slot available before 8 am.
Looks like we are going to have to find another course or another weekend!:(
Vet-Y2K
Aug 10, 2005, 02:53 PM
I am okay with a 2:30 tee time. Figure approx 4hrs finish around 7pm, just in time to go have dinner.:D

Aug 10, 2005, 02:55 PM
4 hrs to finish?? That seems rather fast to me...But then again, i'm not any good.
If we can finish by 7:00...then i'm good to go

Thanks for the information YoYo --- 2:30PM hmmm, in my opinion, that's way too late to be paying prime rate green fees for a course, BraeBen included ... that said, if we're going to be playing around that time I highly suggest Granite Ridge GC in Milton - $37 between 3PM and 5PM, and $20 5Pm and after...
http://www.golfgranite.com/
I've played there before and it's a great course - hidden gem IMHO.
Either way, the way this post is going .. WE HAVE TO PLAY this weekend LOL, some way or rather. LOL

Hey Guys,
I wouldn't mind joining up with you guys for a round if you are playing Granite Ridge. $67 is to much for me but I am game if it is $32 (3-5pm) special. Maybe we could make it 2 threesomes or something. Please PM me if this is possible.
Kind Regards,

FYI, we played BraeBen last week, and 14 of 18 greens were just aerated (not fun to putt) and the other 3 were 'muddy' at best!
Expect it to be SLLLLOOOOOWWWW (Muni, Weekend, Kids off school...do the math!)
Caveat Emptor! (Buyer Beware in case ya don't speak da Latin!)
oh, yah, it gets real windy up there on Mt. Mississauga!!;)

i have noticed most of you are from the west end.
which course is better? lowille or carlisle?
Lowville = bizarre (only played it once, but didn't like it)
Carlisle = cross-play (for the money, there's better in the area and the marshalls there have been idiots (powertrippers), IMO)
I prefer Carlisle, but would drive 15 minutes farther rather than play either.

Let's get back on track with this thread. I'm willing to come to TO Sunday and it looks like there's a number of people willing to play. Someone pick a time, a course and let's get something booked. I'm supposed to be playing Saturday at Eagles Nest and it looks like rain for that round, so I'm going to be itching for a nice day (what Sunday is shaping up to be...)
C'mon, someone take the lead here.
