I just finished reading what I think is probably one of the best books I've read in awhile and quite possibly the best ever for me! Then again, I don't really read that much besides the newspapers, golf and video game magazines and such...:$

Has anyone read this book? I don't want to reveal too much about it, perhaps I'll do it on a new post for those that don't want to read this thread and kill their suspense.

This book pretty much puts a new spin on what the general public's view is on God, Jesus Christ, women, Leonardo Da Vinci, the Catholic/Vatican Church and so much more! It is a fictional story, but the the accounts that I stated above the book claims to be totally true! After reading that, I don't think I will ever view religion the same way again!

There's a prequel, Angels and Demons, I'm reading it now. So far almost the same kind of story, but it talks about the Illuminati instead, another secret society. Also just a fictional suspense novel all based on facts. I'm sure you'd both like it.

Yeah this book is awesome! Picked it up and couldn't put it down. I wasn't too crazy about the ending but overall an awesome, awesome read.

He does demonstrate a pretty unique view on Jesus Christ, the church and religion. Who knows if any of it is true. It doesn't really matter. It is a fiction after all. In my opinion it was a lot of fiction backed up by facts and i think that's what makes Brown such a good writer.

Yeah i also heard Angels and Demons was good too. Can't wait to start that one.

I heard about it too....my friend told me it's not as good as the Da Vinci Code, but I'd still read it......

It's a good suspenseful book, I'd definitely recommend it, but I thought he overdid it with the cliff-hangers.

I couldn't put it down! I really enjoyed all the interesting facts Dan Brown brought up in his writing about DaVinci's art. It was also interesting how he interpreted the bible. And his version of how history should be is shocking and yet compelling. I am RC and after reading that book, I was tempted to call up my local priest and make references to a lot of the bible readings and ask him questions. haha of course I didn't. But one day I will go to the Louvre to see all of DaVinci's works.

Oh and I forgot to mention that there is going to be a movie made out of this next year. Some Hollywood director already picked up the rights to it. I wonder which actor and actress they will pick to star in this movie.

Yeah i heard the movie was coming out too. There is actually a Da Vince Code tour that you can go on that traces through the louvre and the rose line. Takes you through steps that Robert Langdon followed through the book. Kinda neat if you ask me :)

Oh really I didn't know about that. I agree that would be an awesome Tour to go on.
I actually became quite a fanatic when I first read the book. I was researching the Holy Grail, and Mary Magdelene on the internet. It's very interesting stuff. There's a lot of people that dedicate their lives to following the Grail.

Books like these are the best to recommend, especially to kids. Entertains and educates at the same time. Reminds me of Jurassic Park, I learned so much about DNA make up at the age of 14 :)

These two Dan Brown books are perfect for reading before going to Paris and Rome.

I'm not too sure if Da Vinci Code is an appropriate read for 14 yr olds....there are some 'things' in the book which maybe inappropriate for youth...I dunno, what do the rest of u guys think?

I agree that this book isn't for young children but age 14 is okay though. Kids these days... damn... they've seen it and heard it all by the time they're 14.

hmm, I'm about a fifth through A&D, I think it drags on a bit longer than the Code.

Very interesting! Not a bad choice and the choice does give it some legitimate star power! For some reason I imagined George Clooney in the role as well!...

Ron Howard is a good choice for director.....I really hope they don't screw it up....:p

this will be great for me since i don't have the time to read the book, i can spend a couple hours watching the movie instead! of course i know movie is never as good as the book, but it'll have to do for now...this will be a blockbuster movie i think!

side note: The Terminal was an excellent movie with tom hanks :)

Ok, I'm halfway, it's getting better.

I don't picture Tom Hanks though, the guy is suppose to be buff, doing 50 laps a day. He sounds cute .. *sigh* But if it's Tom Hanks, there goes my crush

I love Tom Hanks...he is a great actor. But I'm not sure about him playing the lead role for this movie. I was picturing someone more suave and in my books more 'sophisticated looking'.

Ron Howard is a good director. I know I'll have high expectations for the movie. Hope I'm not disappointed. Does anyone know who is going to play the female lead?

Just finished A&D, don't like it as much. The ending drags on a lot longer and I thought the villain was very predictable... maybe coz I already read the Code.

You should re-think that...the movie may turn out to pale in comparison to the book, and might even turn u away from reading it!
