Anyone interested in playing this afternoon?

I have an itch that needs a figurative scratching.

Duffer devon and I played lakeview for $48. Some of the greeens were a bit of a mess. It looks like they spiked them too late in the season last year. A couple of greens had drainage tubes added (didn't affect playability just visually distracting) and it looks like some of the greens are suffering from snow mould.

Everything else was very nice.

A special thanks to the Marshal who not only ferried Devon out to the second tee box after he got caught in traffic but went back to Devon's car to pick up the Pitching wedge that was left in the trunk.

You don't often hear good marshal stories so I had to share this one.

Played Lakeview last weekend and totally agree with your assessment...the greens need a little work/water....but the rest of the course was nice and green..

Give the greens a month or so... and then they'll be slicker than snot on a doorknob. They usually don't come in until about the last week of May... but when they do..... lokk out. Just make sure you always stay below the hole....;)

It was the first time I played it. Some of the slopes we're almost cherry downs goofy. If they really shave them down I can't see this being a little :confusen:

I've brought serious shooters to LV and seen them get pummeled by the greens. It is no cakewalk. Best score for me there is 75, and in my mind, it was a collosal victory of sorts.:D

The greens usually run very fast, and the subtle breaks will murder you if you're not on. Really good test, better than the slope and rating suggest.

Any time you feel like coming to E-town, baby. It's 10 minutes from my pad. I've probably played the course literally hundreds of times, and it still kicks my tush.:hush:

I predict RACMBS Says: "I'm never playing that stupid track ever again"

Wait till the greens shape up. A lot of puts yesterday we're stroke and pray.

Kinda like my love life.

The greens are wicked when they get going... but exceptionally true. I can understand how Sam Snead took an 8 on 17 durring one Canadian Open....

And sounds like our love lives are scarily similar.....

That's Bond Head.....and I got sucked into a tourney there with my Dad on May 15th.

No course's greens come even close to being as stupid as Cherry Downs...so I'm sure I will like it, as long as they are fast. Fast is good, slope is stupid.....and Cherry Downs, is stupid.

BH....they are like putting on concrete. But you can stop it on a dime and I can't, remember? :p

and I pay for that by having my irons blown all over hells half acre by a gentle exhale.

17th is a par 3. How did he get an 8 there?

I believe he hit the first one over the green, second one ran off the front. third went to the back, fourth went off the front. Fifth went to the back again, sixth to the front apron, seventh hit the lip, 8 was a tap in. It really didn't matter, he wasn't really in contention at the time. Tommy Armour won the tournament that year, I believe it was 1934. Sam Snead won the canadian open a few years later at Mississauga GCC I think.

I believe he hit the first one ...

Or you can play it like I played it. The first one is in the drink on the right (swirling wind over the trees). Chip 10 feet past the cup (almost holed it). Putt 4 feet past. Lip out 4 footer. Tap in for a 6.

The grass bunkers on 17 used to be sand bunkers when the had the canadian open there. And if you miss the green long there is almost no way to stop the ball on your chip back to the green when they are running quick. I've heard the Snead story from many different people with varying scores, and I've also heard its a myth... so who really knows the truth?

Yah, they're alot easier than Cherry, but like a lot of courses, you need to have 'local knowledge' about the nuances. ;)
p.s., 'cause it's a Muni, be prepared for a LONG day (it's one of the MOST played tracks in the GTA)

"Which" #17 did they play then, I'm guessing the shorter/across the creek!?
