I have the nicest freinds and golf buddies. While playing at Le Sorcier (Gatineau PQ) this morning something happened that has not happened to me in all of the 28 years of playing this great game. Forget about tenis elbow. Forget about golfers elbow. Forget about lower back pains. http://forum.ottawagolf.com/images/smilies/scratchchin.gif
On the 13th hole par 5 after hitting our second shots, my buddy was 20 yrds behind the tree in the middle of the 13th fairway about 200 yrds from the green. I was about 20 yards left of the tree and about 30 yrds in front of the tree. Buddy hits his 3wood which ricoches(sp?) off the tree and without enough time to move completely, hits me in the face just below the eye and fractures my bone. Good thing I had a beverage with ice in it. Ice was applied right away and cell phone call to the proshop was placed for more ice. Thanks Bob! http://forum.ottawagolf.com/images/smilies/smile_big.gif Finished the hole with a bogie http://forum.ottawagolf.com/images/smilies/grumpy.gif
Up until that hole, I was on a one over in 8 hole stretch which ended on the 13th. Managed 5 bogies and a par on the final 6 holes for an 80. http://forum.ottawagolf.com/images/smilies/smile_big.gif
After 6 hours of going to clinic, getting xrays and then to the emergency ward, all will heal in time (I hope http://forum.ottawagolf.com/images/smilies/sobbrownsunglasses.gif ).
ok boys have your fun. http://forum.ottawagolf.com/images/smilies/fight.gif

That's rough. Yet truly you do deserve the title of Golf Nut! Way to finish your round while injured and still get a great score! While we all hope we don't get hit by an errant golf ball, let's remember this story when it does happens. Play on! :)

Wow, that must have been scary. Glad to hear you will be okay, it could have been much, much worse.
I always wonder how often people get hit by somebody in their own group. This is the second time I've heard of this, the other time it was somebody in our foursome that hit another guy in our foursome

did your buddy have the common-courtesy to yell "FORE!!!!"?
glad to hear you were able to finish the round and that there was no permanent damage.

Buddy didnt have time to yell fore. Besides I saw the ball hit the tree and the next thing I knew it was about 8 inches from my face. There was no way he could have done that again. It was a freak accident for sure. Although I will be wearing a hockey helmet for the "laughs" the next time we tee it up together.:rofl:The eye is closing a bit now (after the night's sleep) because of the swelling but should be ok to play tomorow and sunday.
That'll leave a mark! Actually there is a cut but no dimple marks. Good thing it didnt leave an imprint, he was playing Top Flight and I play nothing but Titleist. Would have been a problem walking aorund with an imprint off that ball on my face.
