View Full Version : ***TEE TIMES FOR COPETOWN WOODS, MAY 3RD 2008***

racmbs
Apr 25, 2008, 07:33 PM
Ok folks, here they are. I have taken into consideration all requests to pair those with those who wanted to be paired together (make sense? :D) and have also tried to accommodate the many requests for early tee times due to other commitments. The range is free this day, so arrive early and take full advantage of it so we can all get loosed up. Carts are extra...I think the $52 plus GST and unlimited range is a great deal for all of us, so please take the time to thank Barry if you happen to see him in the club house.

As always, there will be a skins game that day and will only make this $10/player as opposed to the usual $20 and $2 carry over thingy we used to do on the par 3 #17 that drove me bonkers....trunkslammer is the man with the plan and am nominating him to take full charge of this. Two-tie-all-tie folks.....so there will be plenty of cash out there for the taking, hdcp's in this game do NOT matter....as I'm sure most of us remember the famous skulled 5 wood to the infamous par 3 #17 that netted someone a huge chunk of cash last year.

Come early, eat some breakfast/lunch at the fantastic facilities Copetown has to offer before playing your round....play some golf and then join us afterwards for a bite to eat and maybe a drink or 2 to share stories from the days round and declare the big winner (or winners) from the days skins game.

This WILL be a cross-over and am sure the course will be busy with plenty of other golfers enjoying their day away from the normal hustle and bustle....so just remember to have fun, be patient and keep it in the short stuff.

Thanks Scotty;

I got lucky to be in the first group. That way I can sit in the clubhouse afterwards and get lubricated for a possible 2nd 18 holes.

Guitarman and I have, of course, played together before - Glen Abbey last year. Not sure if Rex B and RMDoyle and I have met before, but I'll probably get there around 9 a.m. to have a bite to eat and hit lots of balls. So, I'll see you there.

Really looking forward to my first round this year.:fingersx:

:D I quit drinking beer as I enjoyed far too many fist to face, while drinking, in my time costing me time.:D But depending on when I finish up I hope to stick around for a bit. I've got to drive Ryan, from my group, back home and have to get back to set up for a gig for saturday night.

Hey everyone ... I'm looking forward to seeing everyone next week. The course is in great shape and it looks as though the temperature will be climbing to seasonal temps by Saturday.

To allow us to make the service great all day, a count for breakfast would make things run a little smoother. If we only have one cook and one server for 30 people for breakfast, no-one would be happy.

If you are planning on coming for breakfast, post it here so I have an idea what to expect.

We will be offering a "Toronto Golf Nuts Breakfast Special" ... for only $6.00 you get ...

Two eggs served scrambled, over easy or sunny side up with a side of
bacon & sausage, hash browns and toast.

Oh what bet would this be?

Well I think of I should have my new Irons so I was wondering if anyone was looking at getting there son into the game any time soon if so I would gladly give you my old walmart clubs. These are suprisingly not bad clubs graphite shafts regular flex grips are a little worn on some of the clubs but deffinatly still usable. Only questionable club would be the 6 Iron that I damaged at CW 2 years ago when on the range. But for someone new getting into the game these would be great the go Driver 3,5 wood then 3-pw irons so then all you would need is a putter and a sand wedge and he/she can start ripping away. I will just give them to you just let me know. So I can put them in my van to bring with me. That is all just let me know.

****ATTENTION PANZIES****

I just wanted to make sure that we are all on the same page here, and are CRYSTAL clear as to how this event is going down. As much as it sucks to not be able to play in near perfect conditions %100 of the time, it sometimes means that one has to suck it up and BE A MAN and play the game of golf getting a little wet in the process. I certainly don't mean we will be playing in a torrential downpour, but if it's just raining to the point where it's a bit annoying and makes it a little tough on us, we are going out.

This is the last post I will put up about this, if you don't like water and don't want to play in the rain, then please send me a PM so I don't get any surprises on Friday after midnight with 10 people bailing on the rest of us. You will not be banned from any future events, but you will be made fun of behind your back and on the course on Saturday while we are all getting soaked in our rain gear, chasing around a STUPID white ball. :D

It's not fair to the rest of the people, it's not fair to the foursome you are bailing on, and it's not fair to either Barry or myself as we've put a lot of time and effort into trying to organize this little outing for us.

RAIN OR SHINE WE ARE GOLFING!!

If nothing else, sweet breakfast will be had. Forecast is currently calling for heavy showers in the morning, followed by intermittent showers from noon onwards. Hopefully all of the rain today doesn't bog down the course. In fairness, though... most times I've played Copetown it's been as hard as a rock, so I might be able to hold the greens for a change......

I have played in big down poars n will again gunna go buy a new rain suit today well I am at GT getting my new Irons n bag. Gunna be a good fun day cuz as far as I am concerned any golf is fun if you shoot good or bad. If everyone goes out to have fun if its raining everyone will enjoy themselves. If anyone knows about SOSA Qualifiying at CW for Highschool Golf they would all no the last 3 Years we have had to play through terential down pours and we had to finish. On an even better note I made my highschool golf team again even though I shot a 124 but the coach saw me birdie 10 and said I know thats how you can play and just assume you shot so bad because it was your first round and you only hit the range once. So I am pretty psyched about that I thought for sure I wasn't going to make it. Means I made the team all 5 years of highschool wohoooo.

No rain up here in Aurora...but I'm certain there will still be some today as they aren't changing the forecast.

I'll be leaving here in an hour to grab some breakfast and will see what happens when we tee it up. If others outside of our gang cancel and we can squeeze in earlier we'll do that too.

See you guys there!

Ok...my eyes are playing tricks on me. I could have SWORN I just saw Barry post a radar shot showing no rain at all for CT today.

that koos guy last nite on city explained there wouldn't be any rain this morning.
Said there would be a break in the fronts and sunshine might even pop out for a few minutes.
Said the break would be between 6am and 11am.

Then all hell breaks loose between 11am and 4:30pm.

Nothing on the radar here ... the closest system is some light precip. over Lake Erie right now, but it is light precip.

It's 8.7 degrees Celcius and climbing to 17 today ... greens have been cut and rolling great. I played yesterday and they are rolling unreal for this time of year.

See everyone soon!

Thanks for posting the info Barry! I've always been a firm believer that the forecasters always over-exaggerate to prepare those for possible conditions. Weather systems change so rapidly, especially ones with rain/snow that I rarely believe them.

Have any people in front of us cancelled? If so...maybe we could get some groups out earlier....we have one complete foursome that decided to stay home as they didn't want to melt today. :D

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here ... I am not guaranteeing no rain .. but I think it will definitely be playable.

As for times opening up, unfortunately because your group is at the beginning of the 2nd crossover, we may be able to get you out a few minutes ahead, but no significant difference.

So where is this stupid rain that we were supposed to get??? It's 11:20am and dry in Hamilton. I didn't want to make my ride drive from Brantford to Hamilton to Copetown and back for no golf so I cancelled to be safe...go figure. Whenever I cancel a game cause of rain it doesn't rain. Try to be thoughtful and so far no rain.

Hope you all are having fun. I wish I was there instead of studying.

Can we shoot all the weather forecasters...lol.

I'm sitting in my office watching them play. It started raining and the wind really picked up as the last group tee'd off.

Judging by the radar now, it may rain for the entire front nine on them, and then hopefully clear up for the back nine ... hopefully.

Oh well, I had fun while it lasted and I can't wait for the next group outing. :hyper: Thanks again Scotty, for setting it up and we'll see y'all in a couple weeks.

Yes, yes...we came, we ate, we practiced, we teed off and eventually got soaked after 9 holes. Their was a foursome who braved the conditions and kept on chugging.....wonder what they'll look like come 18. :D

Thanks to all of those that showed up, Albatross I understand you had some issues and that really sucks....hope everything is OK. We only had one no-show :nono:, who will be promptly added to the list and not welcome at any future events...not you rmdoyle, although would have been nice to receive a PM to let me know. ;)

As for the balance of the crew, you all know the arrangement for the next outing....see you all there and I will let you know when that will be. I've got MANY, MANY more outings lined up and will start posting well in advance to get the ball rolling, hope to see you all there and will be taking people with families into consideration by planning events when they can join as well.

We went home with rain checks for 18 holes while you brave tards played 18 holes in the shmootz.

Like I said...I play in the rain, but that was a bit crazy. It stopped raining here at 6:30 and the sun just blasted the wet away here and ended up being a beautiful night.

You'll get Scooby snacks when you tough it out at the RC and bring home some points. :D

And to the rest of the gang, thanks for making the trek and coming out to play some stick and CT. Thanks to Barry for working with me on this one, we'll have a few more events setup there this year and am looking to get one done that will have a very big turn out.....
