Anyone ever get a sharp pain in the left wrist immediately after impact? Assuming your right handed.
Tonight, for the first time ever .... I did. I was out swiping a bucket with the new R7 on the first tee and I hit one of the longest, straightest drives of my life but.. wow, did that ever hurt.
I had to stop for 2 mins shaking my left hand wondering what the heck THAT was.
Anyone?

... I always do, but it has alot more to do with my squash game than golf specifically... I feel it more at the beginning of the season than later... Wonder if you pulled/strained something in your wrist?

I've notice my left wrist bugging me after I tried to brace myself on my pull cart when I rolled my left ankle a few weeks ago. I didn't bother me as much this weekend when I played, but it's sore today. Of course, my left wrist would be your right wrist, since I'm a lefty and you are a righty.
I've also notice that those types of injuries take much longer to heal that a lot of others. Either I'm just getting older, or I don't get a chance to rest them propertly (too much typing by day).
I've also notice a twinge when I hit and something stops the club, like the lip of a bunker, or a really hard mound of dirt just in front of the ball.
Hope it's nothing serious GRT.

I have had a similar problem over the years, it would hurt on the top of the wrist at the bottom of my thumb, had to relax for 2 weeks to let it heal.

my best guess is that it is the r7. try on of those shafts with the built-in vibration damping (i think ping makes'em)

Thanks a lot for all the well wishes, lads.
Theres no rest in the near future though.
I thought, yesterday, now that my parents are still young enough, that I would ask my mom to caddy for me. She can still easily pull cart my stuff around and we can walk down the fairways together so she can see me play.
I have two tournaments this weekend, the tour at Renton and the Rockway G C Invitational. Mom will likely come to Rockway.
It will mean a lot to me to play well with mom by my side so I'll be grinding like crazy all day.
I'll have to work out lots over the winter to prevent injury next season.

...It's funny how your wrist starting hurting after your new Avatar can on the scene :) .
And I just noticed MOK put hte hammer down on the Phil Thread - Man I missed all the fun...
I would enjoy watching the fireworks in that foursome... It would have been fun to see who wins the Schitzel.... I would guess Ronny would take you all, he looks hungier than everyone else... But this is just a guess... :D .
Anyways no need to reply...

Nope! Never had any wrist pain whatsoever. Been playing an R7 since May 2005. Club works really well for me. Feels real sweet when I nail it.

If it's still bugging you, get it checked out by a physiotherapist to recommend proper exercises and stretching if you aren't sure about what to do. All you need is a couple of appointments for them to teach you right program. You definitely don't want it to get worse and have it start to affect your swing. Good luck.

Different issues can be at play here. A sprain of any of the ligaments in the wrist, instability/hypermobility of one of the joints, a muscle/tendon strain, etc. But like the above poster said, ice will help. At most it, will decrease inflammation and pain but just make sure you cycle it for 10 min on/10 min off. This is important to minimize a "freezer burn" type reaction.
If you want more info, pm me and i'll do my best to help you out!

Suffered a serious wrist injury (left hand) during golfing a few years ago. My game has never been the same since. This year I managed to re-injure (non golf related, lifted something heavy) it again. My game is basically non existent anymore. One day I'm fine (well, almost), the next I can not hit a ball to save my life. Even picking up a club with my left hand alone hurts. Frankly, I'm coming slowly to the conclusion that my golfing days might be over for good very soon.
GRT, I don't know how badly you injured your wrist but I'd advice you strongly to give it some rest. Stay away from golf for a while or you'll pay the price later.
One more thing. If things worsen and you see your Doc ... stay away from Cortisone injections. It helps short term but at the same time it weakens the bones and ligaments even more. Trust me, that's something you don't want.

GRT, that might be going a bit far. I think people were just thinking they might get stuck in group together with some of the more.... undesirable elements that post here ;).
Besides, if you bring your avatar, you can join my regular group (no blow up versions allowed though).
