Wondering if anybody can recommend any resorts within an hour or two of the GTA that has a good stay and play package for a reasonable price.

Obviously would like to ensure that they have a decent course and nice lodging.

One that I have heard about is Hawkridge in Orillia that has 2 rounds + lodging for $99 weekdays and $149 weekends.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not affiliated with this one but I knew someone that went there.

They are 2 hrs from GTA from what the site says. Don't know the course condition and all but just thought I throw it in there.

Mike Weir's website has a deal going for Taboo. Involves a Sunday stayover, but room and a round of golf for $125.00. It's only selected dates in September right now, but if you can take the Monday off, it's well worth it. I payed more than that just to golf this course back in June.

I played the Hawkridge Package two weeks ago. It was an incredible deal. Both courses are challenging and in great condition, cart tarts were young and cute, and the hotel is nice and clean. The only thing that was bad was the speed of play (but that can happen on any course)...The group in front of me were a goofy bunch guys that searched for everyball.

Of note, there is a service fee and the total amount with taxes is $135 for mid week package...(which is still a bargain).

Where you might get stung is when you cash in your free dinner voucher at the casino...Your $135 value package could easily get run up to $400!:)

Niagara Falls Golf Club. They have a good Stay and Play package. The course is decent and the Downer is a very quick stumble away...literally.

Myself and my wife took advantage of this offer in May - actually I feel like we were taken advantage of. The hotel was undergoing major renovations, so half of it was closed, only one dining room was open and the food was served cold, service was terrible and horribly overpriced ($35 for a lump of charred meat sitting on some mashed potato!), breakfast the next day was also cold, and all the staff look like they were dressed by J Lindberg (think Jesper).

The course itself was in great shape, though we were paired with a hacker and his "I've never played before but it looks like fun" wife, who took at least 4 practice swings before each shot and probably didn't come near to breaking 200 - that was a fun 6+ hour round  Oh, the directions on their website suck as well, meaning a 90 minute sightseeing trip around the lake with a wife who needed to pee. I still bought a shirt though...

Other than that it was great :D

Hi B_Kim777,

I have been to Nottawasaga and Hawkridge. They are both OK.

If you want to drive about 7 hours Boyne Mountain is awesome. We went there in May for the week-end (Thursday to Sunday). It is an awesome place for golfing. They have a lot of courses and the condition are awesome.

Check it out at www.boyne.com

They have a week in September at par (Canadian $)

They have packages with unlimited golf... When I was there in May I met other people from the Toronto/London region (5 to 7 hours) and lots from the Chicago region (6 hours). It is worth the drive.

Just wanted to let you know.
