Do you have a particular hole that has your number, or more properly, a hole that gives you numbers (and plenty of them?) Where trouble begets trouble?

I have one, the 18th. Just the other day, I parred 15, 16, and 17 and was looking forward to locking horns with my nemesis. Well, I was gauged and battered, and nearly scored enough digits to have called Guam. Wayward drives and fat wedge shots never seem more penal than they do on this hole.

#10 at Brantford G&C....165 par 3 dead into the wind where almost ever miss of the narrow angled green is dead. A pin high miss of 6 or 7 yards right or left is usually a bad miss.

All in how you play it. Treat as a 3 shot par 5 use 3 iron off tee and becomes a birdieable hole.

8 - Cardinal East - I shot an 11 last week on it ruined my rd

5 - Royal Ashburn - have had plenty of snowmen there

18 - Watsons Glen -- horiibly designed hole, just awful for me. glad to walk away with a bogey anytime there

11 - Ballantry - great hole but can bite you in the $&*

Funny that 18 at Watsons. It's a crazy hole that could bite you bad...but for some reason I always manage to play it well...nothing but good Karma there.

18 at Royal Woodbine..is probably my worst hole ever...I have had double digits there more times than I wanna remember

5 & 12 at Royal Ashburn can hurt you big time, but I can't say they "get me every time" since they only get me some of the time. I've birdied both.

So far, 18 at Watson's Glen has got me every time though. Never less than 6 (might even be 7), and I think the 6 was when I sunk a bunker shot.

Once I thought I had it -- 3w, 7i to the 200-yard marker. Take out my 200 club, which I usually hit well and it lands like a bunny and snuggles up. Nail it and ... guess what, 30 yards short.

Take out one more club and again nail it ... into the far bank of the pond.

Either there are some weird winds out there or the marker is way off. When that isn't true, then I'm off. One or all of the above.

Either there are some weird winds out there or the marker is way off. When that isn't true, then I'm off. One or all of the above.I find the fairway seems very narrow on #18 after a round of wide open fairways, so it usually gets the better of me. The winds can play havoc for the shot into the green as you are really protected by the trees if you are on the other side of the pond. At the course they have a really good yardage book you can buy for $3....from the 200 marker, it's listed as only 181 front / 193 back so the markers a little deceiving as it routes around the pond.

#2 at Watson's Glen used to kill me and then one round I birdied it .... since then it doesn't seem to be the same monster it once was.

For some reason, the three par 5's on the back nine at St. Andrews pretty much get me every time.

#2 hole at The Marshes in Ottawa.

Was ranked 3rd hardest hole in Canada by Sportsnet a few years back.
http://www2.sportsnet.ca/golf_18holes.html

http://www.brookstreethotel.com/golf/images/marshes_pic_001.jpg

640 yards from the tips; 615 yds Blues; 581 yds whites.
http://www.brookstreethotel.com/golf/marshes_layout.html

The landing area for your drive is fairly narrow and usually a north breeze will try and push the ball towards the water hazard which runs the entire length of the hole. Some players will play their drive over the mound and onto the 4th fairway, just to take the water out of play. You do need to be precise so that it is not too far left and ends up in the #4 marsh.
Second shot you need to leave short of the bunkers at the dogleg and make sure you hit left as the fairway slopes towards the water and over the past two years they have been cutting the rough short so any ball rolling towards the bank is gone.
Third shot you can play off the left hand fairway mound and let it roll down towards the green, that is if your 2nd shot is far enough down the fairway. If not, then best to lay up about 60-70 yds out and pitch your 4th shot and hope for one-putt, but be very happy with a two-putt (6).
Generally people are just happy to get away from the hole with a (6).

No exageration that the average player will lose two balls on this hole. I have seen 2 - 5 handicap players card a 10 on this hole. That is enough to mentally finish many a golfer when it comes at you on the 2nd hole............:(

Secret to this hole is stay LEFT, LEFT, LEFT, LEFT..................

Lionhead Legends 11 & 12, Masters 12..... Short hitters are already at a huge disadvantage, but add to that you better be accurate and avoid trouble...

Royal Ontario 9 or 18... One of those two always get me, regardless of how well I am playing...

Don Valley #8 in the 70's-80's..... That hole was nothing but trouble along with 15, the shortest par 3, that I always went left or right on (and would invariable get a 5-7) to the amusement of my friends.

Really, I always seemed to use that slope on the left to my advantage...mind you, if you go right, Yer Dead!

Par 3 #13 (I think) at Watson's Glen. That damn hole just laughs at me when I get to the tee box. I haven't scored less than bogey there yet!

#2 at Markham Greens. It's not the tee shot over the water, either. For some reason, I have never played that hole without dumping at least one ball in the creek on the right. The rest of the course is great...it's just that one damn hole....

I haven't played very many really nice tracks lately, but these come to mind:

1) #8 at Uplands. Really unfair for shorter hitters.

2) #10 at Mill Run. Double Dog leg. Again, really unfair for shorter hitters.

3) #6 at Bloomington Downs. I know you must be thinking, WTF am I citing a hole at Bloomington for? Thing is, Holes 1-5 are so easy, you're thinking "Hey, I've got my A game going. Career round here we come!". Then they throw a REAL hole at you. Hahahaha... :D

#1 on Lakeland 9 at Westview. I simply cannot hit the fairway with my tee shot!

#17 at Tayandaga: short par 5 but cut out of a valley. Very narrow with forest on both sides and water comes into play with ...you can play this easily if you just keep the driver in the bag and play it as a 3 shotter. I don't...hence I hate this whole. :-).

#7 at Braeben: Great looking downhill par 3 with water in front and forest right behind. The yardage is short, like 150 or so but it's so hard to judge the club due to wind, etc. You're either perfect with a chance for birdie or a 5.
