Hello everyone,

I have just recently moved to Brampton and don't know many people in the area and don't have anyone to golf with.

If anyone else is looking for a regular golf buddy, or even someone to fill out a foursome every once and a while send me a message. as long as I am not working i'm usually up for a round

I am also looking for some good course recommendations in the area.

Thanks everyone

Peel Villiage is a little great 9 hole course. It's in the Etobicoke creek valley and conditions are ussually pretty lush. Was originally an 18 hole course designed by Stanley Thompson in 1926(?). The best place to play though is about 30mins north - Osprey Valley.

Welcome ! There are quite a few clubs Brampton way.......One is Banty's Roost , which used to be terrible , but with many renos and much $$$ spent, is now actually pretty good for the money. Maybe we'll catch on some time for a game !

Thanks CanColt

Getting out for a round sounds good. Havn't gotten out much yet this year and that's mainly because i dont have anyone to play with in the area:(

Oh please....do a search here...no banty's roost!....it may ruin your love for the game that place is so bad. I will never play there ever again.Several years ago they announced improvements i.e. imported ohio sand etc etc and they lied, same apple orchard cow pasture, same surly grumpy unhelpful service. Just blow it up. No. no. nooooooooooo banty's roost!
Try a course I never played but just discovered 'castlemore' off airport rd in brampton. It is short however it is very tough. Lots of water, forced carries, elevated greens.
Wondered why the slope is so high when it is so short. I found out.

Hi Burkie;

When are you available to Play? How much are you prepared to pay? Do you want to walk or ride?

With this information you will get a better idea of what’s available.

Hey Burkie,

Mayfield is also a decent course for the money - Torbram north of Mayfield Road. If you want to venture just a bit farther north, then I'd really recommend Osprey Valley (Yes, I know - it's a seeeecret.....)

I second Peel Village as a good track and also agree to avoid Bantys, although I haven't played it this year after the most recent "improvements" - still I made a vow not to waste my money there anymore, so unless it gets raving reviews I'd still avoid it.

I'm just west of Brampton in Georgetown. I'd be up for hitting the course with you sometime, send me a PM when you want to play.

Hey Burkie,

I'm in Brampton too and would agree with Shark Shark that Castlemore is a great little course! I'd alos like to play Osprey, Glen Eagle, Peel Village etc, etc. I work for the school board and am counting down until June 27th when my golf season will really begin. I will golf mostly during the week. If you are around (or can sneak away from work ;);););)) fire off a pm and we'll get together. I'm also new to Brampton.......

Take it easy.

You obviously haven't tried Banty's in 2007 or 2008........listen I'm not pushing it, but compared to Castlemore, it's in MUCH better shape and a better track. It is also right on in price with Mayfield, but in generally better shape ......Mayfield is fine if you don't get the " new 9", which I believe is "Blue" (of their 27 hole layout)..... have fun!!!

My issue isn't with the course itself - it the people running the place. I'll never return.

Haven't been on this board in awhile, but I would like to get together with other new players some weekends. I've played Parkshore, great little 9 hole course, and would like to do Peel Village and Brampton GC. Be interested in giving Castlemore a try as well. June is pretty much full for me, but weekends should open up in July (I hope).

Played Banty once last year...like playing on a cement baseball field, hard to figure out where the fairway and rough meet. I'd play it again just to get out, but I don't recommend it to serious players.
