Well gas has breached the $1.27 mark!!! And if you need high octane Gold it’s even more! There’s even talk of a Fuel surcharge on airfare. I was wondering who has changed their golf habits as a result of the gas prices creeping up higher and higher? Share your story. Are you golfing less? Fewer rounds? Golf at twilight or after 2pm? Cancelled golf trips? Forming carpools to golf courses? This poll is piggybacking off of Davepratt's thread.

It is changing everything. Now I have to take the wife's Honda Civic to afford to go golfing.

You are my new best friend :D .

I try to car pool AMAP. I have kinda stopped golfing with 1 buddy because I have to drive South to pick him up (no license) and all courses are north of me.

I've got my own Civic and I still cant afford to golf.

On the up side ..... flip this thing is decent on gas. I can barely get $50 in it and it'll EVENTUALLY  go well over 600kms on it.

Apparently speed kills. I say "drive a honda and you'll live forever".

not really...lack of free time is limiting my golf outings--too many darn weddings this year.

always car pool if possible; saves on gas if you split the driving and makes the price hike more bearable.

$1.299 today and I think $1.30 will easily be breached and not even one week has gone by. :(

Seeing as diesel prices arent posted any more I wasn't aware that it's price has already breached the $1.40 / litre.

I'm rather amazed the truckers haven't parked on the 401 blocking ALL traffic in a protest. :hush:

I remember paying as high as $1.35 in Niagara Falls back when Hurricane Katrina hit, and that was outrageous...we'll crash that barrier, oh, um, mid-June I imagine!? :(

Not all truckers actually pay the price you see at the pump, they buy their fuel in lots from brokers at a discount. However they will buy in 5-10,000 gallon increments... gotta love commodity buying. At least that's how we did at the trucking company I worked for 8 years ago.... back when diesel was 65 cents a litre. :help:

tip less; .

do you know that those girls make UNDER minimum wage??

if someone is serving food or alcohol to you tip 15% MINIMUM... if you can't afford that, then don't have them serve you, go to McDonalds!!

FYI Minimum wage is $8.95/h they make $7.60/h, they're not doing it because they like it: it's their job... do you short your clients out because profits are low??? or do you allow clients to pay you less?? i'm inclined to think not... so don't do it to those poor girls out on the course who have to put up with a lot of our s**t

**end rant**

With gas prices this high, it is impacting me in more places than just golf. I really think in this era of record profits, someone should start holding corporations more accountable for their policies.

Thanks for letting me know there are still young women being forced to work on golf courses. I thought slavery were abolished long time ago. I stand corrected. I will not short them my tip but I will ask them for their slave ID.

But I can't cook.

I think everyone and everything will be effected.
The joke is that every efficiency we've introduced so far, has always come at a premium price and discouraged wholesale adoption.
We used to ignore it but now it is definitely part of the cost of the game.

Guys who play 3-4 times a week and need a tank of fuel for every game will play closer to home. Reduced purchases, because of the fuel cost, will slow the golf industry to a crawl.
The numbers will reveal it at the end of the season,I'm sure of it.

In the final tally golf returns to its former elitist roots with private clubs hanging on, and Clublinks, in order to sustain itself, will roll any cheap courses it bought up into housing developments just like it present CEO intended.

The 2005 Hummer still gets thirsty and costs me about $230.00 to fill up. The 2008 Porsche Carrera is better at $80.00 a tank(94 octane) but we don't even want to talk about the 2007 Bentley rate of fuel consumption :hush:
