just played 9 at Emerald Hills yesterday. The Valley section which is basically their newest 9 holes
first hole is an existing hole, but from 2-9 it appears to be all new holes.
this is the 2nd time there and my impression is the same, the holes aren't ready. conditions are a mixed bag, from very poor to exceptional. it's still too "young" though, and they would have been better letting this 9 mature through the rest of the year to open NEXT year. The ground is soft and hard and the turf is not "strong" yet
as for the play of the new holes, #2 is a long trek to the tee and is a really boring par 4...then it gets more interesting from 3-8. a new section with a pocket of drastic elevation changes. the number 5 par 3 is quite beautiful from the back tees and the highlight of these 9 holes
the rest are standard T. McBroom course of bunkers, fescue and dramatic fairways.
it'll be next year before I go back and hoping it'll play better when matured.

You should have talked to me first before going - I would have told you to avoid the new nine! The rest of the course is in pretty good shape!

greenie: teasing? we never know where next year's TGN.com tournament will be. Mok has a choice of EVERYTHING...so feedback now will narrow the choice NEXT year.
golftool: I thought it may have grown in better from 2 months ago. A few holes are in better shape now, but still no where "ready' for play. I actually purposely went before the addition of the new holes in late May. Wanted to play the original 18 but they had started the work sooner and we had a mixed bag of new and old.
the course is definitely not as fun as Glencarin or even Diamondback (yet?).

do u have to be a clublink member to host a tournament?
I don't think so...they WANT your money...hahahahaha
but I'm sure it's easy to get ONE person that's a C.Link member to make it official
with this site growing, this site could probably take over the WHOLE Board of Trade (both courses) next year

How did the new nine (valley) do last year? Was it in better shape?

Although the question wasnt directed to me, I would like to add my 2 cents.
The New 9 is in better shape. The problem is it isn't at all like the original 18 holes, its a mix and match.
I wish they had built the other holes in a parkland fashion, walkable like Emerald Hills was.
One of my first questions is which 9's am I on when booking, if Valley is one of them, I try to change it.

The new nine isn't that exciting, and you have to be a damn billy goat to play the last 6 holes. :D

I guess I may be the only one, but I do not like the new routing for the Forest nine at all and prefer to play the Valley over the Forest. When I book a round I play Parkland/Valley or don't play at all. I Actually like the Parkland quite a bit, plus its the only full original nine since the new nine. The valley may be kinda funky with the back to back par 5's (one of which is pretty weak) and holes 5, 6, 7, but I much prefer the open up and down golf over the Forest nine. Plus it's fun to try and drive the 6th.

Ital Frank is probably a young lad, able to walk up and down those freaking hills.
I feel like I'm at Blue Springs, another one I avoid.
