I have annual golf weekend up near Sarnia. This one of my friends decided to get married on that weekend so we ended up playing the morning round driving 2.5 hours from near Sarnia to Toronto, attended the wedding, drove back 2.5 hours in the middle of the night, woke up played a 18 in the morning and then drove 2.5 hours back to Toronto.

I dont regret it, but looking back, that was dumb. The weekend before I went to that guys stag, got wasted, slept for 2 hours and woke up at 6 am for a morning round.

What is the dumbest/craziest thing you have done golf related?

I impregnated my wife with our second child & planned it so the baby would be born mid-november (aka end of golf season)

hahahahaha... that is the gold medal response in my opinion... I applaud you for your commitment to the game!!! I hope for your sake that your wife never finds out about your alterior motive.

In the 1980's I would call private courses and tell them me and a friend were interested in a membership but would like to play the course first. We must of had 12-15 rounds for free that summer.
Now they let you come out but you have to pay the guest fee. They probably changed the policy due to golfers like me.

I postponed a shoulder surgery over a year so it wouldn't interfere with golf season. The surgeon had a ridiculously long wait list and I was fortunate enough to get in "early" with this guy. Initially was scheduled for mid July but I immediately said no to the astonishment of his secretary. The next available appointment was November the FOLLOWING year. So 16 months later, lol. My shoulder would literally pop out of its socket whenever it felt like it (except in my golf swing) but I chose to deal with that than miss any golf.

I haven't been playing golf nearly as long as you guys but the dumbest thing I did was practice swinging my brand new irons in my house and left a dent in the ceiling.

But in case anyone was wondering, the club was fine :D

I played at Whispering Ridge as a thunder storm was going through. Seriously stupid, and I'm damn lucky nothing happened. I blame it on my buddy who joined me though ;)

Had the whole family, wife and 2 kids, in a golf cart at the cottage golf course. Thought I'd treat them, going down hill off the first tee, to a surprise 360 on the wet grass.

We came"that close" to tipping over.

Scared the crap out of me...but I had to keep smiling so as not to let them know how close we were to decapitating ourselves.

Won't do that again. YOY! :(

LOL glad nothing happened and it's just a funny story now. My friend and I had the same thing happen at Lowville one time. If anyone knows that course it's got some pretty steep hills. My friend slammed on the brakes at the top of a hill and we literally spun two or three times down the hill on the morning dew. It was scary while it was happening but hilarity ensued.

Me and 3 buddies drove 8 hours to Oakmont to watch the monday preactice day at last year's US open. Then we drove straight back to Mississauga right after. I did 90% of the driving both ways and was up for almost 30 hours straight. Needless to say, after trekking around Oakmont from 6 am to 6pm in the heat and humidity, I should have slept before the drive home. Unfortunately one of my buddies was working the next morning.:cookoo:

The dumbest craziest thing I've done golf related is actually taking up this difficult, frustrating, expensive, wonderful, great game.

There's a Titleist HVC with my initials carved in it lying at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Teed it up on the South rim about 12 years ago. Crazy feeling when I hit it, the club felt like it was going to fly out of my hands. Pure adrenaline. :D

Doing the same thing as Albatross, hitting flop shots from my backyard into the park about 5 or 6 houses down. The parents were freaking out as they didn't know where the balls were coming from, the kids were all excited as they thought it was a riot.

My PARENTS though, didn't find it as amusing. It was a brand new house and the grass had just been laid that season...although my parents fully supported/encouraged my love for the game, they certainly didn't appreciate the 20 or so divots I took out of the brand new lawn and subsequently banned me from the back yard forever, with golf clubs of course. :D

I may ....... or may not have done the exact same thing.

I may have also:

Watched in horror as my son tapped the parking brake on the cart releasing it towards a creek among trees. My son took a quick look at his predicament and opted to hop out of the cart. With that I ran after the cart to stop it before it ran into the creek.
Once I returned the cart I found my buddy almost peein his pants thinking that was hilarious. While I wasn't nearly as amused, I was glad he wasn't upset. Its not like $8,000 in equipement was about to take a swim or anything.

I may have also:

broken down roadside in my 1992 Thunderbird Supercoupe again and with being no where near amused ..... decided it might be a good time to practice. I pulled my shag bag out of the trunk and proceeded to tee up golf balls in the rubberized cracks in the pavement and smash balls accross an empty parking lot while I waited for a tow truck.

Went up to the top at Blue Mountain during the summer and smashed balls down the hill.

Later that night got piss drunk with 4 buds and played around Monterra at 03:00 in the morning :D

i hit a shot into a big valley on a par 5 at a course i didn't know well. i hit a wedge out pretty well, and tossed my club up to the top of the hill before me as i climbed up. got to the top and realized there wasn't anything at the top of the hill except a 50 foot drop into a swamp. my wedge was nowhere to be found, it must have just went right over the edge and tumbled right to the bottom. expensive stupidity!

Trying to get up and down at camisle from the water beside the green. Lets just say the lob wedge explosion of green muck all over me was not worth the ball landing beside hole and par saved.....almost.

Played at Humber Valley today, my best golf round yet, reminded me of a round I played there a couple of years ago when I was still reluctant to use the driver and teed off with the woods instead.

Back then, on that "glorious" day, I broke my 3-wood teeing off on the 7th hole and, as if it wasn't enogh, broke my 5-wood on the 8th hole. That's Sportchek quality for you - loyal to pro shops and Golf Town ever since. Needless to say the guys I was playing with were laughing their heads off.

I once took off the shoe and socks and waded into a pond at Willow Valley to play my 3rd shot, much to the delight of my playing partners. I hit it to about 4 feet and saved par. Now who's laughing.

My first game ever, 12 years ago or so, me and my buddy were teed up with an older, Italian guy. One of my tee shots just went completely sideways and nailed the guy in the shin. He went down fast and I felt really bad. He ended up limping his way through the round but at the end of the round asked me to sign something so that he could get out of work for the injury. I think I signed some fake name. Also, same game, different hole, I hit a ball into the parking lot and heard that wonderful sound of a golf ball hitting tin - but we've all done that haven't we?

haha. I used to go to a driveing range off HWY 20 in hamilton and blast the ball over the fence trying to hit the big Semi's. That was like 3 years ago though. Also three years ago waiting on 17 at Kings Forest my friend teed a ball up and hammered it with his driver and hit it backwards into the houseing I wasn't impressed with that one as uh he broke someones window.

Leaning out of my cart in the passanger seat pointing out my ball while flying down the cart path with my drunk cousin during my stag.

He pulled a sharp left, which suddently left me tumbling down the fairway like a nice low drive.

The booze worked well to kept me pain free!! Till the next day of course.

What does a course do if you like flip a cart or like put a cart in a pond?

Do they ding your credit card for the damages or what?

I tore a hole in my carpet taking practice swings. I never liked carpet anyways. After a poor shot once I tossed my club backwards towards my stand bag and it hit the leg and broke. The shaft bent not the plastic bag leg. Go figure.
