It's that time of year, summer is finally here and we will welcome it with this year's US Open Pool. I was lucky enough to win the 2008 Masters Pool, and now have the privelage of creating/running this pool. If you have any issues with how this pool will be run, too bad. All you need to do is win this pool and you can decide how the British Open pool will be run  .

Prize:
Every participant pledges to contribute one sleeve of balls to the winner of this pool. The choice of ball is up to the winner and will be announced in this thread. If the winners ball is unavailable after reasonable effort substitutions may be made of similar quality. The winner will be announced Sunday after the competition is completed, and that person will be responsible for contacting the other entrants to make arrangements for their winnings. The winner will also have the honor and responsibility of hosting the British Open Pool in July. If you happen not to win, be sure to send the sleeve of balls within 2 weeks from the conclusion of the event. If you don't, your name will be posted by the winner and you become fair game to the board.
Good luck to all that enter. I will post the names of those who qualified for the weekend on the Friday night, and will try my best to post the winning results on Sunday night. Thanks,

Hey guys,
Just a note to all who have picked or are going to pick. I made an error in group 5. Kenny Perry is not in the Open, he only just got into the top 50 after his win last week. If anyone has picked him, please change the pick. I have edited the group to omit him. Sorry for the mix-up. Good thing for Golf Central.

It pays to do research when you have balls on the line.
"Calcavecchia was 8-over through nine holes when he walked off the course.
Calcavecchia was playing in his 20th U.S. Open. He's missed the cut or withdrawn 10 times."

I set up a little spreadsheet to track my results as the event goes on. I took a look at the winning criteria and something occurred to me.
The OP says "The total cumulative score, in relation to par, of your players that make the cut will be used". This doesn't make sense. I have 7 players make the cut, so I have to count 7 potentially over par scores. Someone who has only 5 players make the cut only has to add up 5 scores. Anyone who has more than 5 players make the cut is penalized by having to count more scores.
I think what the OP meant to say is that the best 5 scores of an entrant's players who make the cut will be counted. That way everyone is on level footing, and those of us who managed to pick more players making the cut get the benefit of excluding the high scores beyond our 5th player.
Make sense?

One question you may want to resolve.
If someone has the following;
Player 1 Total Score 141
Player 2 Total Score 144
Player 3 Total Score 145
Then 3 players with 148
You now have 6 players.
How do you decide which player is dropped to bring the total to five player for the weekend. Are you going by word ranking? Highest stays, lowest goes.
I ask because by my calculations you have more than one person with this scenario.

+31 for me....I never give up.
Masters 2 years ago was won for me on the tee box of the 18th hole on the Sunday.....anyone of the players we've got could either light it up, or ***** the bed.

If only Moobs, Goose and Leonard wake up and get closer to par today, morons.

Like I said bro....never give up. :D
Come the end of the US Open, I'll pretty much guarantee that 1st and 2nd place in our pool will be separated by a mere point. The guys chasing the leaders have nothing to lose and will fire at every pin they get the chance to.
Tiger will NOT win the US Open....I predicted European in my office pool and should have went with Westwood dammit. Instead I chose Mr "I love ponytails and Ferrari's". :D

One question you may want to resolve.
If someone has the following;
Mule
Top 5 scores, no matter what the 5th palyer's ranking is. If your 5th, 6th, 7th players all have the same score, then I just take the score. We would us the tiebreaker from there.

Hey Guys,
First off I want to apologize for not being able to post scores going into the final round. I had a hectic weekend with work and family stuff, so hopefully nobody was too put off.
Here are your final standings for the pool. I'd like to say it was close, but that would be a lie. Unlike the actual tournament, we didn't need a tiebreaker to figure this one out. Congratulations to skt07 for choosing the wisest. He spanked us all by at least 10 shots, mainly because he was one of the very few who picked Lee Westwood.
Once our winner is done gloating, I'm sure he;ll let us all know what kind of ball he'd like, and how he'd like us to get it too him. Congrats again, and here is a full list of the pool standings.

The racmbs streak is over!!
Thanks for running the pool dbelletrutti! And thanks to everyone for participating and the congrats!
Let's get down to business!
My ball of choice is: Titleist Pro V1
I'd like to help people avoid sending balls through the mail since shipping is almost as expensive as the balls themselves. So here are some options:
1. You can meet me at the July 27 Copetown Woods event that racmbs organized
2. You can leave your sleeve for me with Swain at his shop
3. You can send me a GT gift certificate for the price of a dozen Pro V1's divided by 4 ($56.50/4 = $14)
4. Send me a sleeve in the mail (PM me and I will give you my address)
Just let me know how you want to get the balls to me via PM.
Please remember to include your screen name with the balls, so I can keep track of who has paid up.
Thanks! Looking forward to running the next pool!
EDIT: Contrary to popular belief I have not moved to Brazil! :p

Would you take those refurbished ProVs?
I am willing to give you 6 balls - which is the equivalent of 2 sleeves.

DAMN YOU!! I will take vengence in the Open pool come July baby. Figures the top performers of the '08 season I had decided that it was OK to fill their drawers with doo-doo and play like @ss.
I'll bring your sleeve to CT bro, I've got a few Pro V's kicking around from the last 3 pools I've won still. :p

Pretty sad that McBogey and Merlot would risk ruining their reputations over a mesely $20...just goes to show that true colors always shine through in the end and we are better off weeding them out one by one.
But as they say, some are born smart.....and others are born >.......<

skt07,
Sorry, guy! I just got back from vacation golfing in B.C.
I will go to GT tomorrow (Tuesday, July 8th) and get a gift certificate for $14.
I'll PM you for directions where to send.
Again, sorry. I didn't pick up on this sooner. Not my style, normally.
