What percentage of time do you spend practicing (driving range, putting green, chipping) opposed to visits to the course?
As for me, I would say
70% Practice
30% Play

30% Playso for every 5-hr round of golf you play, you spend about 12 hours at the range?
i'm more like 40%Play-60%Practice
I'll play a round every couple of weeks and go to the range every other day for an hour at a time.

I hit the range for practice once for every 4 rounds on average (25% practice). And I don't consider warm-up time at the range or green before a round as practice.

I certainly feel I don't practice enough. I'd say I'm about 70/30 in terms of play/practice. Ceemart, does all that practice pay off?

If pre-round warm up doesn't count then I only practice ......*thinking* ... maybe 2 days a week, if that.
I wonder if that should be telling me something about why I hooked the ball off the tee all weekend?

Ya, I was going to comment on that one as well. How come I'm not surprised you'd pick up on that GRT. Hmmm, then again what does that say for me  .

Hmm, I recognized that too....
More on topic, I usually start out the year hitting the range one or twice a week, and playing once a week. By August, I'm usually down to playing once a week, with no range time. On average, I'm probably about 1 to 1, or maybe just less than that.

I'm 99% play and 1% practice for sure. I hit a bucket a few days before the first round of the year. After that I might hit a range once if a buy a new club. This could explain why I've been on the verge of 80 the last few years but never able to crack it. I don't have time to practice nor the real desire to put the time and money to get really good again.

If I had a way to get to a range I would be practicing a lot more. But being stuck downtown with no car means I rarely make it to the range. I need to find one that is accesible by subway.

Seriously, I'm probably about 50-50, primarily because hitting the range is much more affordable than playing.

Over the course of a calendar year, I would practice as much as I play. During the winter, all you want to do is practice and during the summer, all you want to do is play. :)

I think I'm about 90 - 10 on playing courses. The worst part is I learn something new and try it out on the course instead of on the range.
But to me spending the 4 hours and 50 bucks on the course and seeing the beautiful scenery is better than 11 bucks and and hour and a hlaf at the range. To me the range is for the winter (i.e. Launch) and enjoy the summer on a course...
