So I was thinking today as i walked up the fairway on Number 1 at Kings Forest if I am swinging to hard. The only reason I think this is as I teed off on the first tee like any other day I pulled out my driver. First time I have all year made everything right my hip motions where right my take away was perfect my follow through though maybe not so good not to sure. As when I looked up to see this ball take its amazing flight something felt very odd something I had never felt before. Then I saw a big black disk about the size of my driver head go flying 100 yards down the pipe. Turns out my driver head blew off the shaft of my club. This Club would be the Adams Insight BUL last years model and would be just over a year old. Now everyone agreed that if the club head didn't fly off that ball was going 350 yards. Only made it to 250 as the loss of follow through. I didn't think I even ripped at the ball but I am still in shock at 1:30 in the morning to see my driver in 2 peices. Funniest thing is the glue didn't even just let go it actually snapped the shaft inside the driver head CRAZYYYY!!! Going to have to go back to GT on Friday and get it replaced or fixed. I played so bad the rest of the day as rather then hitting my usual 7 irons - pw into the green i was hitting 5's and higher some times sometimes less. What really makes me laugh is all day I still out drove my entire competition the hole day but 2 holes where I duffed the ball. Which meant I was hitting my 3 wood 250+ not carry though. Just my story for the day thought I would share it with you all any of you experince this extreme feeling of no club head and see it go whirling away. And to adress the question does this mean I am swinging to hard or is it just poor manufaturing?

I've had it happen to me once. The weirdest feeling. I almost feel over forward on the follow through with no weight being on the end of the shaft. But I, on the other hand, got more than 250 out of my drive on that shot. :D

Happened to me at Copper Creek (#10 I believe) several years back. My Callaway Steelhead III driver head went flying off just on contact. Had to walk through some knee grass going down the hill to find it...

Swinging too hard? Doubtful. More likely some weak clue joining the head to the shaft. I've seen it happen several times while working on the range. I had one of my students' 3-wood head go about 100 yards downrange. A little embarassing when you have to get everyone to stop while retrieving it. Then of course there always one dumba$$ who hits a driver while I'm down there. He explained that he's hitting so far past me it didn't matter. Duh!

Happened to me with the Callaway Graphite driver. Very bizarre feeling on the follow through. GT shipped to Callaway and I got a new one from them.
I was also at the docks driving range and had the head go flying off on my 5 iron. I went up to the ball guy and said my iron went flying off onto the range and asked if he could pick it up for me. I pointed to one of the orange pylons on the range and said "It's over there, right by the yellow pine cone." He looked at me kinda confused and I repeated myself, "It's over there, right by the yellow pine cone." Still looking at me confused my friend standing beside me taps me on the shoulder and says "That's a pylon and it's orange." :D

Me too. It's been changed though, but still in the rotation. :)
Here's the original.

Ya freakin sucks and let me tell you weirdest feeling of my entire time playing golf so far. My dad who didn't see me swing just saw me drop what he thought was a club not just a shaft thought I duffed it. Then he saw me pick it up. I played so bad yesterday I went from 5th place to 11th which is really bad almost the back of the pack. But luckly for me John Sharpe is going to try and set up a round with me him and his daughter who is on the LPGA :D.

It happenned to me on the driving range. A couple of years ago I had a lot of trouble hitting the ground with my driver. I was hitting on mats at the range and had hit them pretty hard a couple times. Then I had a great drive hitting the ball pretty square and off comes the head and flys about 75 yards. In my case the glue let go. Could have been a combination of hitting the ground and the club being in my car all day on a very hot day. The club was only a few days old. I took it to GT and they glued it back on.

You have to swing 100-120 mph and have a shaft thats tip is weakish so you can put super stress on it eventually causing it to break.
