Grass Roots Tour

I'm working on next years' tour schedule and with this years' experience I'm now thinking later start times would be better to allow for travel time. I have members from Walkerton, London, Hamilton, Kitchener, Cambridge, Mississauga, St Catherines etc.
I had this year set up with all early starts cause I figured everyone liked prime time play but never really considered travel.

Do you guys think 11am start times would help so getting up at 4am wouldn't be necessary?

Why don't you try opening a poll? What is the preferred start time for a weekend tournament if you will need to drive 1 hour to reach the course?

For me, it would be 9am, if that's possible...

I did 9am this year. Some players wanted later times. The guy from Walkerton drives like 1 1/2 hrs on average just to get to the event. Then, like me he'd like to have an hour to relax and warm up to play. This means he's got to get up at 6 or earlier.

I was also thinking some better courses might entertain hosting us if we started later.

It depends on how many players you will have at each event. The higher end courses, as a general rule, don't like weekend tournaments to take away from their prime-time 8am - 10am regulars.

If you want 100 players and you don't start until 11:00, the last tee time will be around 2pm or later which means they won't leave the course until almost 7pm. That is too late for a lot of people.

I would suggest getting as early a start time as you can and just schedule those travelling farther a later tee time.
