I'm a total noob at this. I've been playing for less than a year. Started my first lessons a few weeks ago and obviously hope to get better and enjoy the game more.

Hi golf nuts! I have been playing golf for about 18 years, and what I would consider decent golf for 1.
I enjoy playing golf, watching golf, reading about golf (not that the tips usually help) and tweaking my set (about to do it once again for those small incremental improvements).
I look forward to using this site and passing on any interesting things I come across and fellow tips/discussions from everyone else. Shark

Hi, my name is Rob McBurney, 40 years young, former asst at Don Valley and Rockway GC. I moved to New Jersey back in 2000, but plan to move back to the GTA very soon. Had the chance to play with Moe when he was alive and Jerry Kesselring, both great players from Ontario. A few of you might know me, or met me in the past, feel free to email me anytime. Great site, very glad I came across it.

I have a sickness... This place, I am told, is where I can come to discuss my problem. I was told I would meet others like me who go through the same daily struggles as me. Please everyone, welcome me to the gang... I love golf and I want to talk about it. This place is like AA for golfers.
I've been playing for two years. I play atleast once a week and usually try to make it out twice. Between that I drum, do woodworking, work and play foosball. You can find me in Kitchener-Waterloo. Give me a shout if you need an extra player and let me know of any open tournaments going on.
see ya out there,

I am in Clifton, about 10 minutes away, I am up at Golfsmith alot talking to Eric, prolly the best club builder that I have ever met. I am no longer in the golf business, but still get to play 2-3 times a week.

What's up all.....I'm new here. Found the site after a softball game in CCSA where someone wrote the url on a celebratory helmet they gave me. I'm assuming it's the site moderator.....plays on the Harbingers #28.
Nonetheless, I'm pretty glad I finally found a golf forum since the game's really grown on me in the past 2 years! I hope this site doesn't blow my budget away! Lots of good deals and advice from what I've seen so far! :D

Hi all. Name is Albert and I'm from Kitchener. Always interested in meeting new golfers - especially diehards that aren't afraid of a little rain or cold. I average about 3 rounds a week and get around to all the courses around Kitchener/London/Guelph/Niagara and some in the GTA.
Looking forward to meeting some of you and participating on this site.
Thanks.

Hi akrus,
welcome to the forum. rain or cold is no problem, but this past week in the heat has been pretty tough for golfers! must do morning rounds, afternoon rounds are just murder! Thanks for the welcome, Mok. I've gotten so used to the heat that it's no problem for me. I rarely manage to go golfing in the morning any more. I've got a regular group that gets out on Tuesdays around 4pm, so I've managed to acclimate to the humidity fairly well. Helps to have good grips.
Speaking of the rain, my group managed to get 6 holes in at the Heathlands on Saturday before 2 of the guys started to complain that they couldn't hold their clubs any more. In their defence, they did buy rain gloves after the round, so they won't have an excuse in the future. Too bad we had to quit as I was -1 to that point (we played off the blues) - looking very forward to going back there (first time I've played it since it first opened)
Thanks again for the welcome. This site seems great.

Hello everyone - found this site while searching for info on Osprey Valley and the status of their operations. Playing there on the Aug long weekend (twilight at 3pm) and looking forward to it again as I played the Heathlands 5 years ago and loved it - too bad it has taken this long to get back.
My name is Dennis, mid 30s, love to play, watch, and talk golf and I enjoy the fantasy golf games as well. I have been playing for about 20 years now and just this year have got new clubs after using my original Canadian Tire set (and various extras) from when I was 15 - so far it has been great to have new technology and consistency. Live in Guelph and work in Waterloo and play the public courses in the area, though I try to keep up with most of the courses in SW Ontario and the GTA.
Took advantage of the Canada Day weekend specials at Wooden Sticks and got the Sat 8am slot for $100. As I had purchased the charity calendar from the Toronto Golf Show, I had $20 off of that, so for $80 I thought it was quite a steal. It was great to experience, in a small way, the St. Andrews holes of 1,17, and 18 and then see the great action this past weekend. I am sure I will be back there some day, but only on a really good deal.
I tend to play twilight and go for deals and it is pretty rare I ever play, or pay, prime time, though I am not against doing that - it just tends to work out fairly well for me.
Great site and I look forward to providing some comments, and gaining good info on courses and stuff.

Welcome akrus and duffer_den. Hope to read more on the courses around your neck of the woods.
Wooden Sticks for $80! I'm so jealous. But I dont' think I'll play such nice courses until I play better :)

Hello everyone, just thought I would put up my 'intro' message. Vball introduced me to this forum and I must say what a nicely put site this is. I've learned lots from this site and it's a good way to kill time at work!
Hope everyone enjoyed the tournament at Angus Glen, even though I didn't get a chance to play in the tournie I was fortunate enough to play the south course this past Friday, so hopefully the next tournie I'll be able to make it out and meet some of you ppl.

hey badbadgolfer, welcome to the forum.
one of the things i most enjoyed at the tourney was putting faces to screen names and watching some pretty good/bad swings. :D :hush:
there were a lot of real characters out there. maybe you'll meet some of them at another function. :fingersx:

Hi everyone I have been playing golf obsessively for the past 5 years, and can't get enough. Unfortunately work and kiddies get in the way of more golf but I still get my fix when free time comes around. I'm from Scarborough and some of my friends call me nuts since I won't hestitate to drive 2 hours for a good golf outing. Had a great time at the tournament and met lots of golf mad people.
See you all out and about

Hello
my name is Andrew. Been playing for about 5 years, definitely an avid golfer. always looking for course deals around the GTA. Most will agree, green fees are inflated for decent courses. If anyone comes across great twlight rates or weekend specials, don't be shy to spread the knowledge. thank you

Hello everyone:
I discovered this site while searching for info on Barrie & Southcentral courses. Glad to find a forum that is Canadian and local.
My name is Randy, love to play, try to play, enjoy watching, talk golf...and when I can't, I try to go to the range once a week. I have attempted golf for about 5 years now. Oh yeah, and I have a habit...stopping at just about every golf shop & checking out new stuff and looking for bargains on priceless experienced stuff.
Also, it's a shame I haven't been able to play the course Tangle Creek. The course is down the road. I guess fatherhood and family come first, then work/golf a close second?
Great site and I look forward to providing some comments, and getting some good info on courses and finding some people to play a round or two with.

My name is Jeremy, 28 and in downtown Toronto. Played regular through the end of highschool and beginning of college. Took quite a few years off and getting back into it now. Going to start concentrating on getting my score down to try and pass the CPGA playability test. Trying for spring or next fall if not.
