Looks like the cat is passing on playing in the Canadian Open at Shaughnessy.

probably only Singh will be making the trip out of the top 4 and maybe 0,1 or 2 others from the top 10......

Did you guys read the article about Shaughnessy in the Score magazine? Apparently, it will be non-existent in 20 years.

Not surprised that TW is not making the trip, it's not like he plays here each year.

He's been here and won....and the Cdn Open has lost a bit of its stature over the years....its a second tier tournament at best from the tour pro perspective...which is too bad as its a National Open Championship.

Nuthin' goin' on in the NorthWest this year except for The Champions Tour!:$

...and besides, the $$$ aren't big enough to attract the Big Names!:(

...and, of course, the players have FAMILY considerations, such as SCHOOL is starting, and they may have just moved somewhere new!?;)

Actually, with a $5 million purse it is certainly not second tier in terms of the $$$$. The problem has ALWAYS been the September date. The RCGA has been trying to change the date for years, but the PGA won't budge.

After August, most of the top pros simply take some time off from the tour. The majors have all been played, and the Presidents/Ryder Cup teams have been decided. They play the WGC American Express, the Presidents or Ryder cup (if they made the team) and a couple of more tournaments and that's it. This is the time of year when the fields are made up of a lot of guys making sure they finish in the top 125 on the money list to keep their exempt status.

This year the Vancouver location makes it even worse. If you're playing the Deutsche Bank tournament in Boston the week before and the 84 Lumber Classic in Pennsylvannia the week after, you're talking major jet lag. I don't know how Vijay does it.
