Hey,

I got a 4 - for - 3 coupon for this course (from Golf town clearance sales) and was wondering if this course was worth the drive ?

RobertThompson
Aug 24, 2005, 07:00 PM
Sure. It is a Richard Kirkpatrick design (funny they won't let you write his real first name, which is of course, ****) and not a bad effort on an average piece of property. The owners seem to go out of their way on the service and the course is interesting, if not always exciting. There are several good holes, including the 17th and 18th. It is about an hour from Toronto, just the other side of Ancaster...

OK Thanks,

Coupon is good any day after 2:00. So my next question is who wants to go. Would have to be a weekend though. Either Saturday or Sunday :)

I'd be in for that. I've got a free pass, so if they let us use that, would become a 4 for 2 day and everyone could share in the savings.

****ty. I just checked and this coupon is not valid with any other coupons :(My pass wouldn't be a coupon - it's like cash, in my eyes at least. I could always call and see what they say. I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

The 'pass' is actually a ticket track pass. It was given to one of the guys in my foursome last week when the rain came through and Copetown closed the course. They gave us all rain checks and one of the guys won't be able to use his.

Our Tour just played Copetown woods this past weekend and the course is in great shape. It's a good test of golf while being fair. What you see is what you get, no tricked up holes and make sure you are on the corect side of the hole or you will have some very difficult putts.

It is a very nice links style course, well worth the drive.

An answer was posted (in another thread by member "Copetown Woods") about using the ticketrack pass along with the 4 for 3 and all is ok.

So it there is still interest in setting something up this weekend, I'd be in.

I guess I should reply to this thread...yes you can use the ticketrack tickets for the 4 for 3 special as they are a pre-purchased green fee and not a coupon.

This weekend we do have some times open on Sunday, but Saturday is pretty booked up.

If anyone wants to come out to Copetown Woods on Sunday, I will offer a 4 for 3 special after 1:00pm to any foursome stating that they are from Toronto Golf Nuts. Hopefully this will help in getting some of you out here. The green fee cost would work out to $44.25 per person plus GST after the 25% discount, which is a pretty amazing price!!

When you call to book, tell them you have a 4 for 3 special and then make sure you ask to speak with me...Barry..and if I am not here ask for my voicemail telling me what time your tee-time is so I can make a note on the booking approving the 4 for 3, as it is not in the regular time.

Hope to see you out here!!

Just spoke with Barry and have booked 3pm for Saturday. Using my pass and the 4 for 3, the total will be 1/2 price, so it's a steal.

The time is 3pm Saturday. As Titan started this thread, he is obviously going to have first crack at a spot and I am reserving a spot for TehFlakes, so assuming that Titan and Flakes are good, we will need one more.

If you've never played Copetown, don't pass up this chance - gorgeous weekend coming up and a great course.

Titan, my apologies for taking over the thread, but I thought I'd get things moving and as I committed to golfing with Flakes a few minutes ago, I felt that I needed to set up something firm.

just checked out the website .... impressive ... completely not what i expected from a ma n' pop track w/ no teaching pro! wow!

1 question ... i didn't see powercart rates posted ... are powercarts included in the green fees? are powercarts mandatory or is walking allowed (or walking allowed only during certain times of the day/week?)

1 concern/question ... i saw some hydro power lines/towers in the pics of the course ... do they actually come in to play on any of the holes a la Cresthaven or Deer Creek South or Parkview??

Looks like the consensus from those that have played it is that it is worth the drive from Markham/Toronto for the service-level and course.

Hydro Towers run parallel to the 5th and 6th holes and the only way they come into play is if as right handed golf you hit a nasty slice to the right. If you do hit them, it is a blessing because you get to re-tee, as apposed to hittin gout of fescue!!

Carts cost $17.25 per person tax in and we charge on a per rider rate, not jsut a full cart price.

The pictures on the website do not do the course justice either...you need to see it first hand to really get the feel of it!

Power carts are available, not sure of the price. The course is an easy walk. Not much in the way of elevation change (some minor rise/drop), but very walkable. For those that have played Grey Silo, I would put Copetown in the same class, but no stupid 3 day journeys between tees.

I'll kick your a$$ for not walking, Flakes.

Greywolf

Copetown does have power carts, they are not included in the greens fee. There is a good size range plus a chipping green near it with a practice bunker. There is also a putting green in close proximity to the 1st tee. It is easily walkable also.

Havent played Copetown Woods yet, and hope to by year's end. I played grey silo about a month or so ago for the first time and I just totally enjoy each hole...especially when standing on the tee deck. Beautiful course, tough course, nice greens, wide fairways, and the flattest tee decks I have ever played. Plus everyone who works there, says hello, and treats you like a member....plus you cant beat the tunes playing over the putting green:rofl:

WHile my review on this coarse.
WOW.starting with the drive in, it's about 1-2 minute drive in from the road that takes you to the parking lot.
Practice Faclities...Excellent, Large Putting Green, Large Chipping area. Great Range. I love teh clock on the wall at the range,i found that very handy!.
The Course i loved it period. It was in good shape, my only concern was i found our group but mostly albert fixing divots from other groups.
IF i lived closer to the course i would play it more often.

I just feel that one thing needs to be corrected with regards to Ryan's review: I disagree with his comments about the driving range. I thought it was in rather poor condition as it seems there hasn't been enough time for the grass to recover. This was a major disappointment in my opinion.

The rest of the course was in great shape, including tee decks. The one exception on the course, is as Ryan mentioned: the ball marks on the greens were unlike any of my previous visits. No enough people are fixing these things. It would be nice to say that the course should do it, but that's not realistic. If you come to the green and see ball marks, take a moment to fix one or two - assuming that your actions won't disrupt the pace of play. If everyone does this, greens will recover and be alot more fun to put on.

Otherwise, an absolutely wonderful experience, with a couple of great golf companions - a fun time that wasn't diminished at all, even though it rained.

Albert

Just for clarification, the greens were still very good and rolled true, even though I thought there was an abnormally high number of unrepaired ball marks.
