I like fire fox too. But some of the pages that are designed for IE still not display correctly until firefox.

It would be great if there is a function that will do real-time bookmark sync between IE and firefox.

yah, real-time would be good, no need to add to both browsers heh...maybe if firefox used the favourites dir to get it's favs from...

yah, you know on imagestation? the page looks really weird, same with some php pages for this webpage, it looks weird also on firefox...

Yeah...I use Firefox too and I've been quite impressed with it. I love the find function that allows you to find links in a page and to follow them all from the keyboard. Almost makes surfing with a mouse a thing in the past.

i use it... but then i get frustrated when the pages don't load correctly...
especially my company's intranet page (which is the homepage obviously)...
it goes all wonky and the data from it is STALE (like headlines from 6 months ago) go figure

but go firefox! go mozilla! go open source!

How do you do this?

How do you do this?
If you hit the apostrophe key (') on your keyboard Firefox will bring up a Find toolbar at the bottom of your screen. Start typing the name of the link (or keywords in the link) and Firefox will immediately find and highlight the first link that matches the search parameter. You can find the Next instance of the search parameter by hitting F3. At this point, if its found the link you want, you can hit enter and follow the link. This only works for Text links. Images and buttons won't work.

Thanks! Neat feature!

So do you guys use tabbed browsing? Very usefull if you want instant access to a whole bunch of sites at once. It also saves you from having a whole bunch of windows open because the sites are opened into one firefox window. I usually do this with my news sites. I have them all bookmarked in a folder. I go to bookmarks and then down to my news folder. Right click it and "open in tabs". All the sites load up at once but they are all individually tabbed. To move from one tab to the next you press ctrl+tab, or you can click the tab with your mouse.

i am using the MS intellimouse 3.0, i used to have the large thumb button as the "shift" button, now i have changed it to "ctrl"...what i do is for example on this forum, i go to "get new posts", then i do a "(large thumb button) ctrl + left click" and open every thread in a new tab...and to close the tabs, i just middle click on the tab at the top...it's pretty fast once you get used to it...ctrl-w also closes tabs, and yes i use the ctrl-tab to switch tabs also! very nice features!

it's not a hot key, it's just a link on the home page: it says New Post - http://www.torontogolfnuts.com/search.php?do=getnew

if the site gets huge i'll still try to read as many posts as possible :p you know me and how much time i'm on the internet hahaha.

I'm too lazy to download it just yet. Maybe when I hear that it can load all pages like IE, I'll definitely try it. Thanks for the reviews.

I'm all for open source!

Hold ctrl and press f, that'll bring up a find prompt, then you type in the word you want to find in the browser.

General post:
Also, you can't uninstall IE if you wanted to, because the windows user interface is based on it. That's why you can open up any folder and type in a url and it will open up the website. So I'm pretty sure you have to keep it on your PC, I don't think windows will even let you uninstall. So you can use any browser you like, but you still have to have IE on your computer. :D

it doesn't allow you to find like this:

if you wanted to find "superman"
if you type any letters such as "super", it'd go to the first occurance of super, and if you type "superm" then it will continue highlighting the rest of the word...

Did you try "match whole word only"?

Kerudo, I guess another way of describing the find feature in Firefox is that it finds as you type. In IE, you have to type what you're searching for then hit "Find". In Firefox, all you have to do is start typing, and it will start searching the entire page for matches by highlighting them. As you type more, it will refine the search and highlight a different match. No need to click "Search" or "Find".

Not only that, but you can specify the search to search for keywords in Links only. That way you're not searching the entire text within a page.

Not sure if this makes it any more clearer, but yeah as Mok suggested, you'll have to try Firefox for yourself.

Yup that definitely cleared things up. Well I understood both answers haha. I just never tried firefox yet, though I hear from my friends and people on this forum, obviously, that it is great and better than IE. I just never found too much problems with IE, so I guess I'm satisfied and have no reason to switch. MAybe when I format my computer I'll try it out, and who knows, I may be hooked. :)

Kerudo: you should just install it over IE, it won't do anything that screws up your system. :fingersx:

The real problems with IE is its security. Owning about 95% of the internet browser market, you can bet that the hackers and spammers will be gearing all their exploits towards IE. Simply said, Firefox is probably the more "secure" browser.

IE has to release security updates every 2 week just to keep it's browser safe haha...

also I've had no problems browsing with Opera 8.5.

I love Firefox, been using it for about 18 months, really no bad issues with it, highly recommended.

I had an issue this morning getting on TGN, all I got was the most recent poll and no log in screen or anything like usual. I manually cleared cookies for this site and got back in, makes no sense but here I am.
