With Tiger's recent lone 2nd place finish in the Tour Championship, he now
moves to #2 in the world once again.

It's simply quite amazing....it's no secret that Tiger's driver has lead to his subpar season...he finished 182nd out of 196 in driving accuracy. Yet for this season he has amassed $5.3 million, and has had fourteen top-10 finishes and one WGC title.

Also in the two seasons that are used to calculate the World Rankings, VJ has played 60 events, Els 52 events and Tiger has only played 40 events.

I predict a Tiger-eqsue season in 2005 for Mr. Woods...some of you may call me :cookoo: .....hehe, but that's fine!

I should also point out that M.Weir has moved up to #6 in the world and Goosen is now #4....he is now part of the Big Four club.....which I think is very deserved.....

Nice to see but Tiger won't be catching Vijay anytime soon. The earliest would be the end of next season IMO. I definately think Tiger will have a better season than this year, how can he NOT? It was pathetic! No stroke play wins. haha...looks like his swing changes are helping him out. Just needs to find the fairway.
Goosen is definately play well as of late. The South Africans are stepping up! (Goosen & Els). Weir has been all over the place this season but good for him. Don't know if you could really say he's the 6th best player in the world though. Sometimes I wonder about these rankings.

the rankings is definitely very complicated. there are a number of considerations.

tiger is a competitor, you can see it in him when he is either frustrated or shooting well. he will be striving to make his way back to #1, this i'm sure!

Don't you find that Goosen and Els are very similar in golf swing, stature and facial features? Makes me think that they're twins!

LOL! Ego, I noticed that too! They look sooo alike! But anyways, I'm happy to hear that Tiger has moved back up to #2, I was very impressed that he did so well in the Tour Championship despite having a 3 week layoff from the game. I think only Tiger could do something like that! VJ is too scared to take a layoff because he feels he'll lose his golf swing! Tiger is about natural talent.....VJ is about work ethic......*tee hee* :p

Is it surprising to see my reply to this? hehe..Sort of felt like you were egging me on here QB...hehe...well, here we go...I must tell you that Tiger was not "away from the game" for 3 weeks. He was away from competitive golf for 3 weeks. Reports said he had his clubs on his yacht and would work on his swing changes on the yacht. Also, he had a ton of time before the tournament to play a few practise rounds and hit the range. 3 weeks is nothing for these guys, they can swing a club in their sleep.
VJ just seeks perfection, thats is why he is relentessly on the range. He's not scared of laying off, its just his love and dedication to the game that keeps him at #1!!

I don't think so at all! Els is tall and thin and Goosen is a bit shorter and stockier. The only similarity is that they're both from S. Africa! :)

I wonder why Tiger decided to change his swing. He was winning everything. You would think he would wait until he needed to change in order to compete.it looks to me that right at the top of his career with no one really pushing him he decided to change it ,and thus this past season..Not bad but far below his past performances..Why fix something that's not broken???..

hey outwest......I don't believe Tiger intentionally changed his swing, it's moreso that his swing changed as his body became more developed....he's still trying to adjust his swing mechanics with his slightly broader build .....he just won the Dunlop Phoenix (granted against a bunch of no-names) so maybe it's finally starting to pay-off! Guess we will see in the long-run...also he's employed the services of well know swing coach Hank Haney...I only think that will help his game...

You may be right, but I believe he just decided to alter his swing.Remember he was playing very well and all of a sudden he started making the change after he switched to Nike equipment,I could see him changing if he had gone a year or so with out winning ,but he started changing and bingo his game tanked. He may be coming back to his former form again, but i really don't think that his body had changed so much that a whole sale change was necessary....

You mean his let ego down and got some help? He would'nt accept the fact that Butch Harmon was someone who might have helped him along the way, and for that his game went downhill. Good for him to swallow his pride and find help.:help:
