I'm going to play with my grandfather this week sometime and I'm looking for somewhere to play thats between us (West Toronto and Hamilton). I found this place on the net and the price seems reasonable.

Anyone played this course recently?

I played it. I thought it plays pretty well for the amount of money I dropped.

Mind you, I played the twilight there. Also felt the layout was pretty challenging. I heard it can get pretty busy out there on weekends though, so be prepared to wait.

We're going to be playing a weekday fortunatley. We'll probably shoot for an 3pm tee time or something depending on my schedule is looking. Should be good.

Its a decent track. It is faily open with water in play for a few holes. It should be in decent shape. Enjoy

I find it a boring course (back-and-forth type of course) and it is pretty short (6300) from the tips. Greens are decent, but the fairways/rough aren't anything to write home about.

I would only pay twillight prices there (they start at 3 I believe for around 40$).

A better option would be to wait until 4, and go play Hidden Lake for 46$ (or 43$ if you sign up for their email club).

I played last week, was in great shape. Play was a little slow, for some reason there was a fivesome in front of us that the starter approved.

Front 9 is more interesting than the back, which does get a little back and forth.

For the money I don't think I'd go back. I found the course to be pretty pedestrian really, no particular hole really jumped out at me as nice, and for a couple you have to contend with noise from the hiway, plus I wasn't overwhelmed by the condition of the course.

A solid 'Meh' rating from me.

Interesting comments. To me it has some outstanding holes, #2,8,9,14, and 18. There are others that are good, #1, 7, and 15. The rest are pretty ordinary.

Very interesting comments.
I played there earlier in the season, found the whole place totally uninteresting. No holes stood out. Pretty easy track. Lots of seniors buzzing around on carts. Your grandfather should fit in nicely.

Since this d!ck head of a marshall got on my group for slow play unjustifiably so a few years ago, I refuse to go back.

In some ways I can understand that but if you carry that same thought over to every place that gives poor service you will end up sitting at home all the time.

Here's how I look at it...

If they provide bad service because of ignorant or inexperience, I can forgive them. But if they acted like douchebags just because, I couldn't be bothered. In the case of Deerfield, it was the latter.

I've played Deerfield a number of times in the past and finally gave up on it.
I was never thrilled by the condition of it in the past.
The range balls are beat up and the food was very ordinary.
The staff, as my friend would say, was less than receptive.

I don't know what the capability of your grandfather is, but Saw-whet might be a better option. The atmosphere is more relaxed and service is more friendly. Saw-whets excellent patio has linen dinner service and the food is definitely a notch above most venues.

I would agree with the above post that Saw Whet is a better option and in the same price range and area.
