Has anyone played The Sands 9 hole course at Taboo?...I understand it's been around a while longer but I can't find many pictures of the course. I'm wondering if it's worth playing (it's in the greens fee passport book).

Any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

thanks

it is a nice old layout. Not much trouble. I believe it may be a Stanley Thompson, but not sure

You are likely right. Someone correct me if I am wrong but, it might have been previously called Muskoka Beach (Inn) Golf Club..........
That course is a Stanley Thompson.

I was correct.......... "The Muskoka region's newest resort, Taboo Resort—Golf—Conference Center, actually has a history that dates to 1927, when it opened as the Muskoka Beach Inn. A fire and subsequent rebuild led to a new name, the Muskoka Sands Inn, in 1959. More recently, a major renovation and the introduction of a new golf course, the Taboo Golf Course, led to its current title. The resort features 157 guest rooms, an IACC-approved conference center, the acclaimed Wildfire restaurant, and the recently opened Spa at Taboo."

True statement as far as the looks go - though I've never played it.

hahahahahaa..."shite"...haven't heard that in quite some time!

I've played it. If you're a golf nut and have an hour or two to kill before the drive home, play it. It's not Taboo to be sure, it's not very well maintained, the fairways are like rock...but it is a Stanley Thompson design.
You can always tell people you took your ball heed to one!
