I can't say enough good things about this course , maybe its because i shot my best ever score:D .
But seriously , i heard good things about this course before i left, but was even more impressed at the staff and friendliness of the people down there.
We were given a discount voucher for the pro shop because the course was a bit slow (still went aound in 41/2 hrs) , i was paired up with a local member one day , who offered to book the next round , to save me 50% off green fees.
A great trip in all , for those going to PEI make the extra trip to Mill river , you won't be disappointed!

I had the opportunity to play golf in PEI last summer and it was AMAZING. I highly recommend going. The Islanders were so friendly and the golf was very good and if you like seafood, this is the place to eat !

I agree, we played Mill River in 2004, it was a most enjoyable course to play.

Another vote for Mill River. Played 3 times and would go back anytime.

Mill River was my home course as a teenager, it runs under the radar screen because of location in western PEI. It remains my favorite course of all time. Fair but challenging.
Don't know what # it is now but the old #6 was the ultimate brain twister, water all the way down the middle to a very elevated and sloping green par4, hit a long iron left or a wood right and hope for the best.
Club pro, Mark Roberts is a school mate, tell him Richard says hi if you go! I distinctly remember 1984 when we first got out hands on steel woods, he hit a 3 wood so far on the old # 14 that it must have carried 280 on the fly. 3/4 up on the trees, deep into crap but we were all in awe.
I believe Mark got to play with Moe Norman, ask him about that!!

That is #7 now, it is a nice hole, it looks so intimidating off the tee with all that water in front of you but the hole is definitely playable, I actually managed a par much to my surprise.
I agree that Mill River probably gets overlooked by some golfers who visit PEI since it is quite a drive especially if you are staying in Charlottetown or east of there. Another one of my favourites on the island is Glasgow Hills, nice views and some very challenging holes. All this talk makes me want to go back and play some more...perhaps another trip that way will be planned for 2009.

I'll be heading down there in mid-August. Just love the courses, seafood and scenic views! This will be my 4th visit to the island in 4 yrs. Already have Fox Meadow booked and will also play Crowbush or Dundarave - not sure which one ? My sister works at Stanhope golf course in Covehead & will likely get a round there as well. ;)

If time permits, try to get in a round at Green Gables.
Green Gables is opening again August 1, after being closed for renovations since end of 2006. Renovations at this Stanley Thompson Classic has been under the supervision of Tom McBroom who has reinstated the old bunker designs of the course while expanding ocean views. He's also stretched the course from 6,459 yards to 7,000 yards.
