Hi All - following on a great day yesterday at Copetown Woods, I am ruined. What a great course, at a great rate, in great condition ....

So what other gems are out there that meet the following requirements - my 75 list:
1) walkable until I am 75
2) under $75 on a Saturday/Sunday am
3) within 75 minutes / 75 KMs of CN tower
4) can be played in around 3 hours and 75 minutes

Love to hear your suggestions since Copetown amazed me -maybe I am easily amazed but I do not think so .....

Love it.....especially the part about walking. Played yesterday with 3 riders. We hit our shots and they zoom up the fairway, get to their balls and then WAIT for a couple of minutes for the group in front to move on. By the time they were ready to go I had caught up.

I especially like the 3 hours and 75 minutes...

Chris - Watson's Glen in North Pickering is a great layout and only $68 walking. It's part of my regular rotation and we often finish in 4 - 4:15 (we get out before 8). Just up the road from there is Lakeridge Links - not sure about pace of play, but if you get out early enough, I'm sure you're fine...

Second the motion...just discovered WG this year and am impressed.
Great conditions, good layout, and decent pace of play.

+3 for WG over here...and don't leave out Lakeridge down the road, a pretty good test from the tips if the wind is up!

+4 for WG, although there are a few climbs around the back!

...My vote for the nicest/walkable course is still Silver Lakes
...can be a bit pricey, but between LMG & other coupons, I've never paid more than $75!

OK - so it looks like Watson's Glen needs to be on the "75 List". What else? For me here are some others - woudl be nice to get feedback comparing my list below to WG, fro example.

Lakeview is close - may fail on the 3 hours and 75 minutes criteria.

Don Valley is OK and some fun but almost scertainly fails on the 3 hours 75 minutes and the "walk 'til I am 75" criteria if only for the return to the clubhouse.

Maples of Ballantrae is OK and perhaps meets all criteria.

Deerfield in Oakville meets (just meets on price) and is OK.

Anywhere else I need to consider for the 75 List?

Like the criteria.
Partial to Ballantrae which can be had for about $65.00 when you buy the package. About 4 hours in early morning.
You 3.75 time limit may be your hardest target here, not the money.

WG to me represents a good value, nothing fancy and some quirky holes, but fun.

Lakeview EARLY, EARLY morning has some quick rounds and has fun holes as well.

It's all good.

Oakridge is a great course as well - I will second that. There are a few climbs though.

The more I play WG, the more it becomes one of my favs. Definitely GTG. I didn't appreciate it as much the first few times there, but now that I'm only 5 minutes away, I play it more, and love it.

St.Andrews Valley in Aurora, if you do the 6 pack green fees.
One six pack lowers your cost per round to $79 (from $89), and each subsequent six pack lowers your cost per round by $2 additional.
i.e. so if you buy 3 6-packs, your cost per round is $75.
And the 6 packs are transferrable... so if you have a foursome, you buy one six pack, use 4 of the 6 for your group, collect your money from the group, and save everyone some cash.

A pull cart is thrown in for free with the 6 pack, which helps the walking.

It's 35-40 minutes from downtown Toronto early Sat/Sun mornings (I live downtown and drive there every weekend).
Coming back home is more like an hour.

Time par is 4.5 hours, so 15 minutes over your 3 hour 75 minute limit.

Walking it until you're 75 might be a bit of a push... but I'm 39 with a bad hip, and I walked 36 holes there on Sunday.

For the quality of the course, I find it the best value in the GTA.

...people have their personal faves, but sorry, St. Andrews & Lakeview BOTH fail (price/walking at 75) and (speed of play) respectively!:(

as per the outlined criteria, SILVER LAKES is the better option IMHO!!!!???

i think BraeBen might fail on not being able to be walked by a 75 year old, depending on how fit this 75yo was...

Hi Bigshooter,

I paid $68 at Lakeview and got around in 3 hours and 80 minutes, so it was pretty close :-)

I'm not saying it "doesn't happen", it just doesn't happen 'often', especially prime time on weekends!!

Carlisle. The more I play this course, the more I like it. 68 on weekends, their monday/tuesday early bird special is crazy. Great walkable course, and I play it early in the a.m. but it always has a great pace of play. It also happens to always be in fantastic conditions. the greens are quick and roll true and the fairways are like butter.

Try Pipper's Heath, great course for the $$ and an easy walk.
