G'day fellow golfers, I'm playing alot of golf this year but struggling to find gems under $60... I think they're extinct in this area . Do you know of any tracks that satisfy the play (true/fast greens), the view (mature trees) & the wallet (under $60 of course)? Let me know your suggestions.

If you don't mind playing 4:00 twillights, then you can try out Hidden Lake, Carlisle, and Crosswinds.

There's also the 40th anniversary special at Glen Cedars. $40 green fees all day every Tuesday for the season. I think this course meets your criteria as well, although they do have tournaments there so call ahead.

That's awesome golf info! I'll be sure to test GC as I've never tried it! :D

What about "FoxBridge"? Have you played it? Is it worth the drive considering the rates?

Haven't been up there for a couple of years. When they changed ownership/management, they re-soded the entire course (so I was told). I played it about 4 months later and it was in amazing condition considering what it was like the year before. Can't speak for it right now though. It is a fun course, elevation changes, and not over long with some risk/reward holes thrown in as well.

I think Westview in Aurora is around that price......

Very mature trees and layout, greens typically pretty good.....

Westview is $52 after 1 on weekends. IMO...a better course than Glen Cedars and better than Maples of Ballantrae. St ANdrews is pretty cheap after 4, but with the days getting shorter finishing becomes an issue.

the before 9 is only preseason isn't it?

$49 St. Andrews Valley twilight is a pretty sweet deal imo.

Wow, I didn't expect that many fine choices considering The GTA's reputation for high priced tracks!!!

Thanks, I'll certainly try Westview & GC to start and will let you know.

I'll also make it a point to get on that FoxBridge track in Uxbridge... will let you know about the conditions.

I've played Foxbridge a few times this year. With all the rain, it's in decent shape this year. Not a great track, but for the money, it's decent. If you're going to play it, pick up a copy of the Golf Fore All coupon book. There are 2 for 1 coupons in there with no day/time restrictions.

Maples of Ballantrae was in fine shape when I played there 2 weeks ago, and there's some Great Rates thru LMG, incl. cart, and prior to twilight!!!:)
...mind you, since they re-routed the course with the clubhouse change, I don't like finishing on the Par 3 (which used to be the 16th)

Have a look at their website for rates.

I just got this e-mail from Bushwood. Not a bad course, apparently in pretty good condition because of all the rain.

Thats a tough par3 finishing hole especially from the back.

I second Maples. With the rain this year, its in decent shape. There are also coupons from Golflogic and basically $55 a head including cart.

Bushwood is also a good value course and again the amount of rain we get so far keeps it in good shape. Pretty flat course but decent yardage from the blue. Kind of like Parkview upper but I think B is in better shape this year. Parkview is overpriced relatively speaking.

I agree. And with Bushwood you don't have the powerlines to deal with. Similar to the upper at Parkview, but with elevation changes and more water to avoid.

$40 for 18??? That's less than Tam O'Shanter  Bushwood sounds like a good choice for us public golf nuts who like to play 4-5 times a week :p , I'll be sure to play it next week! A bit of travel opens up alot of courses under $60, keep 'em coming!

Glen Cedars - $35 after 4 is a great deal... Great little golf course, Spectacular conditions!!

With the exception of a few holes that are pretty simple, most holes force you to play actual golf shots too.. always fun... Lots of fades and draws needed here.

Stay away from tuesdays (40$ all day, brings out droves of yahoos' = 5+ hour rounds).

I'll play this over both Deer creek north/south any day.

Deer Creek South course may be worth looking at - after 3pm w/GPS cart I think is $52
