I am going to be in Atlanta in August and will have time to play one game. I'll be staying in Alpharetta and was wondering if anyone had any experience and/or course suggestions.
I've been told that Bear's Best and Cobblestone Golf Club would be good choices.
Does anyone have any opinions about these or other courses?

Stone Mountain is the standard public to which all visitors are taken, I think. Impressive course, with a lot of elevation changes and slopes to deal with (on #1 I hit a perfect 2I down the LHS and it still went in the trees on the right...

And from my recollection, the most incredible cart girls you will ever see. Throw in that southern drawl and you'll melt.

I have spent some time in Alpharetta. (love the area) The ones you list are good, so is the Trophy Club. My favourite twilight spot is RiverPines.
If you want to check out what the courses look like hole by hole, go to the following site and click on course photos. There are a ton of courses cataloged. Pictures of both Bear's Best and Cobblestone are there.

You should also try and hit the PGA Superstore in Alpharetta. More clubs and stuff than you can imagine!

I've heard a lot of people mention The Frog as being a course to check out. golfthefrog.com
Last time I was in ATL I didn't get to golf. Hope to fix that the next time I go back.

Bear's Best is a great course. Just be aware that at certain times they have forcaddies. Ours made it a great day.
