Am down in a few weeks (Pawley's Island Area). Been there a number of times but it is as complicated a place as there is with the unscrupulous pricing and purported deals/non deals. Will play a few times with my son and know places where kids play free, so will take advantage. The resort we are staying at probably has preferred rates at their courses, but it is confusing and the quality does vary. Read the warnings below and your head will spin.

Anyone have any "must plays" that are not overpriced (as son & spouse will not appreciate it). It is low season and usually ridiculously hot in August.

I figure in many cases I should call the course and barter. Anyone have luck with that?

To give you an example, last time on a steamy overcast day I went with spouse and 2 kids to play 9 holes at Indigop Creek(?). The course had some flooding, but was in okay shape and we paid a whopping $25-$30 total (including cart).

Any other things to do or places to eat anyone can recommend?

Thanks

In the Pawley's Island area, I would suggest these well priced golf courses: Willbrook, Tradition, Wachesaw East, International Club, Indian Wells and Blackmoor.
