I am going to a short trip to the northern suburb of Detroit, staying in the Oakland county. I know my hotel is about 15 minutes drive to Oakland Hills CC. Does anyone know of any public golf course in that neighbourhood that I can play 18 holes? I check the Detroit section in LMG and they are a few decent ones.

Any suggestion or good experience from that area?

I didn't play in Detroit (on my way back from Wisconsin 2 weeks ago...Whistling Straits!), but I bought a new Cleveland wedge and a cart bag at MotorCity Golf Warehouse, (2) gloves at Golfsmith in that general area!

Just bought something from Oakland Hills' proshop and I'm now using my Blackberry to send this post. Really nice place ... Just the same as what I see on TV, an American classic. The yardage book, which includes the North and South course, is $7. I don't have a tee time yet but may play Blackheath at Rochester Hills, a place quite close to Auburn Hills.

The clubhouse is really beautiful from the course side. It looks like your playing golf at the Whitehouse. I have never been inside a bigger clubhouse. PGA Championship in 2008.
Cheers.
Pud.
