Hi Everyone - Just found the website and joined today. This is our third year of golfing and I decided it was time to change my irons - from Sears set bought to learn on - to a set of Lady Cobras (used) I can't believe the difference. Can't wait for a new Driver!:) Maybe Santa will bring it to me! If anyone is thinking of starting to play and is just surfing the net and reading a bit, my one piece of advise - buy a nice set of clubs - better to have a used set of a better quality then new of a lesser quality.
:help: If any of you know of a reasonable course that can be reached by TTC, would really appreciate hearing about it. Daughter moved to the Yonge and Eglinton area and decided she didn't need her car in TO but would enjoy getting out and golfing if there are any accessible course.
I looked around the website a bit earlier tonight and I think I am going to enjoy this site

Welcome, Janet,
I too bought my first golf clubs from Sears...back in the early 90's. It was an inexpensive Northwestern set which I am still using as of today. Just started playing golf again last month....after many years away from the game. But I hope to upgrade it over the next little while as golf clearance stuff and other items becomes available. So far, I have upgraded the driver to a 11* Nickent Genex 425 Forged. Still getting use to it as my drives are less than my 5 iron at this time. Still need to get a new 3 wood, new irons, wedges and a mallet putter.

Hi Dave: In my used set was a Ping Mallet Putter - really old but been doing great with it! Good luck with upgrading - I was lucky, went on ebay, then research the items that I found before bidding - maybe just got lucky but got my clubs that I love and a beautiful set of Titleist clubs for Hubby - http://valueguide.pga.com is a great site for getting a bit of details on product and even an idea on pricing

Welcome Janet, it is always good to have more people here.
:hyper:
yay!! welcome Janet, always excited to have another female join the forum, we need more representation!!! but the guys are very respectful...well the majority of them ;)
your daughter is smart for not getting a car, I'm on the same boat this year, and with gas prices rising the way they are, there's no chance I'd even consider a used car now.
Looking forward to reading your golf experiences

Hi Janet.
I am new to the site also but there are lots of great people who love to talk golf.
As for your daughter looking for a course near the TTC. Tell her to go to Don Valley Golf Course. It is right on the Yonge subway line. It is a course owned by the city and it is a nice course to play.
Happy Golfing

Welcome Janet! 4 - women! add me to that list! :D
Don Valley is a nice city course, and easy to get to. The only problem is that it is a popular course because of the location!

Thanks - told her about the course - she had been by it - so knows right where it is. She was of the impression that it was an expensive course

Our regular Sunday or Monday ( depending on weather ) group always has room for one more. And we always play a golf course that has a special going on ( Last minute golf for example we are playing Oliver's Nest Sunday at 1pm for 38.00, cart taxes included) but if she lives in the city there is not much. As far as the Municipal courses go I would rate them like this. Don Valley, Humber Valley ( Islington & Albion ), Tam O' Shanter ( Birchmount & Sheppard ). Scarlett Woods ( Jane & Eglinton ) and finally Dentonia ( Victoria Park Subway station ) All of them are adequate but nothing better than that. She will need to hook up with a group of people who travel to play some really nice courses.
And by the way welcome to the forum. Just avoid posts from Big Shooter, he drinks alot and generally types all posts while naked.

to quote a source out here. The only thing big about you big shooter is your ***** !!!!!!!!
I know my wife types emails on the computer naked I have seen the pictures you have taken.
ilovegolf is a gay user name I agree, But BIGSHOOTER is a nimrod was taken. Then I figured BIGSHOOTER is full of **** would be good, but so many people have that one, the next available one is BIGSHOOTER is full of **** 57, and I do not like the number 57, which by the way is Da coach's normal 9 hole score.

Yes, and I can attest to that he actually wore the outfit when we visited my parents in Brockville and earlier this year at Bradford Highlands he had to buy a couple of kids pops so they would stop laughing at him. But when he gets the Pink knickers I am sure he will look much more lady like.

Die the hair blonde with the Pink and Yellow Knickers and you could easily be your own float in next year's Gay Pride Parade. You know how I know that you are gay..... When you talk about buying Pink and Yellow knickers.

Hi Janet
Its nice you joined this very distinguished group of golf nuts. You are so true about buying higher quality used over the new low quality stuff. They will serve you better over the years. Stay away from any of the Aluminum or Zinc alloys, they can't be bent for loft and lie. Ti Matix or Ti Alloy is marked on some drivers > this is an Aluminum head, and therefore on the elcheapo side.
For a driver you might look at Titanium 400 cc and higher loft. Ultralight graphite shaft will keep the total weight down, and allow you to gain a little swing speed mph. If you can handle an extra inch or two on the length, this will give you some more distance too.
I play a Gemini 395 SL (14.5 deg loft, 395 cc), 47" long, 310 grams total weight > I gained about 25 yards over my previous driver  :) :) :)
Thanks Harry S
