Had one the other day...
This hasn't happen in years, but what the heck - I'll say it...
I'm on the 1st Tee... was tinking with my grip, ended up topping the ball and it goes 5 feet in front of me... I belted the next one through the fairway... but that was one embarrassing moment :$ I rather not repeat...
Golf is such a humbling sport...

hmmmmm, Mikemakeitso humbled. Maybe the planets ARE aligning. Something tells me gas prices will be back to normal by Wednesday. The cure for cancer is upon us. True world peace around the next corner.
Sorry Mike, couldnt resist.
Was it the crowd that gathered to watch you that threw you off? How much were tickets anyway? :hush:

My most embarassing moment has been my last three rounds :(. Of course, now I'll take a week or so off to let my wounds heal, and then I'll probably have a decent round again. Highs and lows, that's why we play.
BTW, it was the first time in quite a while that Mikemakeitso had been paired up with another group, so I think that is what did it.

I was on the first tee at an Ontario Amateur Qualifier, there was a rain delay so by the time my tee time came around there were about 40 golfers standing around the first tee.
Topped my shot about 20 ft in front of me. I was so embarassed !! Hit my next one (5 wood) to within 100 yards of the green and made Bogey though.

Last year I was playing at Southbrook and on the 10th my partner hit a pop up pull that landed on someones table during there tournament dinner. He moved away from the tee as soon as he hit it and when it landed every one looked at me like I did it. Most of them were to drunk to realize we were yelling and pointing at them and luckly to drunk to kick his ***.

This weekend - the local range. I couldn't hit a damned thing, topping shots, chunking lumps of turf, and obviously the harder I tried, the worse it got. I've never had a session like it since I started the game, and I hope I never do again.

Angus Glen Chirpapoluza(sp) 2001. Playing in the last group with all the Key staff standing around the green watching us play, all square, 105 in to an easy pin, big forward lateral  . Next shot, forward lateral, chip on, 2 putt 7, lose the match, lose the title. Still never stop hearing about it.
Having everyone else know that you choked coming down the stretch.
Priceless for them.

1st Tee @Thunderbird (Royal Ashburn).
A crisp fall morning. Slight frost delay that morning. So quite a few foursomes were milling around the tee box ready to get going.
We watch a couple of foursomes tee it from from the whites.
Then we steps up and tells Mr.Starter "We is playin' this bad boy from the 'tips'. We gonna see the WHOLE course!"
I step up and proceed to hook-dribble my tee-shot into the flower bed to the left of the tee-box about 20 yards in front of us.:help:

Forgot when it happened but here it is. 2nd shot into an elevated green. Struck a beautiful 7 iron. Perfect shot, you can't hope for more.
Except for hitting a damn tree branch and watching in shock the ball to bounce off full force. My next shot was from about 80 yards back from where I was before. Did I mention my buddies from work killing themselves for laughing?

no..don't really have one..since i'm not THAT good yet, so half of my shots are what you guys considered as "embarrassing" shots..
i did saw someone fall into the pond in the group in front of me..i'm sure that was embarrassing for him..i felt embarrassing just because he knows that I saw everything :P

Too funny...
but you see I have an excuse... My Niagara trip was already booked long ago... it happens to be on the same weekend... People can vouche for me :D. Maybe we'll see you guys at the Casino or something, having a montecristo... :thumbs_up
PLUS... I could only handle one person in our posse shooting 70's... anymore would make me cringe...

I'm vouching for Mike! We've got our yearly Niagara trip already that weekend. Plus my scoring would end up meaning I'd either take a huge amount of heat for passing on skins, or I'd just be throwing money down the drain...

As a very high handicapper, most of my shots are embarassing. Recently, I had played my first 18 hole par 66 (9 holes x2) course this year (third time out in 2005)....on front 9, made 2 consecutive pars, got a 53....then ballooned to a 65 on the back 9 after straining my bicep muscle.
Played a couple of the par 3 courses in town...9 holes each time. Not much golf this season as I got a late start. Should get a good running start next year though with a new set of clubs.
Hope that the rain and thunder stay away tomorrow evening as I have another golf appointment.

Was playing Angus North two days ago with my coworkders. We were playing a 2 vs 2 match and was trash talking each other the entire round. I was on the 13th tee and was lining up my tee shot while shooting my mouth to my opponants, at the same time one of the hot looking bevy girls was there too I told them I was going to put this shot over the water inside 100 yards and sure enough what do I do? I top the ball and hit it about 20 ft into the water infront of me. :D

heres one
let me paint the picture, in sequence form right to left, first holle, then the ninth hole, then the tenth hole, THEN eighteen
hows about being in a long drive contest on the first tee and slicing it so badly it hit the fairway on eighteen while a whole bunch of people (approx 30) are watching (you just wanna die)
or
how about steping up to the tee setting up and driving your ball into a tree and it comes zooming back at you (i dont care who you are thats embarrasing ,even if nobody is there):help:

Most embarassing moment...
Playing a round with a long time friend and his dad..
Shanking a chip badly, no, make that really badly and nailing my buddy's father right in the cajones.
First word out of my mouth was ****! because I was pissed at myself for missing the shot which was immediately followed by the inevitable gutteral AUGH!!!! from my friend's father as he dropped to the ground.

Otis, if there was a prize - you maybe the winner.
Good story, hopefully he's ok - Although I don't think he'll be calling you to play anytime soon... .

Just this past weekend I had a shot on a side hill lie, ball above my feet. On my down swing, my feet slip from under me, I hit the ball straight left and fall flat on my face.
I think I need new shoes.

or replace your 'soft-green-friendly' spikes ... i found that after wearing my brand-new shoes with brand-new 'soft-green-friendly' spikes for one round, many of the cleats were already broken. (many 'spider legs' snapped off)

I've found that I use up Black Window Spikes very quickly compared to the people I golf with. Some people have suggested that Scorpion Spikes are a bit more durable. Most courses don't allow metal spikes anymore, as they can do a bit more damage to the greens.

I didn't save par but I did manage a Bogey so it could have been much worse and the best part is it didn't affect the rest of my round.

It would have to be having my seven iron slip out of my hand on a rainy day.....what componded this is that directly in front of me lied a 3 acre pond..BYE BYE Seven Iron.
Or maybe it was the time I got pooped all over by a bird during a tournament....everyone in my group saw it all over my hat and on my back....but unfortunetly, I was unaware of said poop and none of playing partners felt that i was privileged enough to know the truth........They kept on saying "how many birdies you got today"? over and over again, and I would keep on saying "I havent got one yet today" or "nice put, that's just like the birdie you got on hole 5." It was even worse back at the clubhouse where every arsehole in the tournament kept on asking about my birdie...It got pretty tired for me.
