Well I finally experienced golf rage first hand of ! Man did it ever suck. I actually thought it was going to come down to blows .
We finished our hole even with the additional yelling/threats from the group in front of us and left the course after stopping at club house to speak with the manager about the situation. (which got us a rain check for another round!)

Ugly! I don't think I've ever experienced that before, although I did call the club house once about the group behind us hitting balls at my group in the middle of the fairway.

I have played with people who have golf rage. A buddy of mine would actually damage his clubs by throwing them or hitting tree with them aftera back shot. At first its quite funny but after a while you could get a little annoyed. I have yet to see anyone chuck their entire golf bag into a pond or anything.
On a seperate note, I was playing Glen Cedars 2 weeks ago and it was a busy day. On the second hole, we see down the fairway the marshal driving along with the group infront of us. We thought they had done something wrong and the marshal was out doing his job but sure enough there he is taking a swing and putting a ball in play. We think nothing of it until we approach the 7th tee and see the 4some still on the tee. There on the tee is the marshal teeing it up with them and even has the nerves to say to us after they all tee off "looks like some of the next holes will be a 5 some...". We give him a little chuckle and swear at him in Chinese as he walks away. Down the fairway we still see him playing along with the group and by now, we've waited a good 8 minutes on the tee box, so I pick up my cell phone and call the pro shop to report him. Sure enough we see him speed away in his cart. Little do we know but he meets us on the 9th tee and comes over and askes us if we're the group that called in and complained and we said "yes". He then has the nerves to ask us "did I really hold you guys up that long? come on, give me a break..." and drives away shaking his head like WE did something wrong. I was so pissed I was about to walk into the proshop and really complain. I didn't do it though since I figured the old bugger needed his job badly. I am officially boycotting Glen Cedars.

Ummm, details????
AlbertIt was an EXTREMLY SLOW day (ie over 4hrsand only 1/2 way though the back). The 4-some in front (2 guys + 2 girls) played many holes as two-somes. That is we could see the 2 girls on the green putting out or pulling up to the green to chip on. Mean while the 2 guys spending many moons looking for there lost balls for their 2nd shot . I mean LOST balls! One hole we found them about 5 rows deep in a corn field and the girls playing off ahead of them.
Needless to say on the blow up hole. We where chipping onto the green as they tee'd off. We finished and putted out. When to the next block (short par 4). Drank reflected on the past holes yada yada yada. Then see the girls up on the green putting and pulling the flag. So we tee up. My counter part shanked his drive left into the rough. I then tee up go through my pre-shot and was about to pull the trigger and the 2 guys walk out of the bush yelling at us . They where still 150+ yards back . So I again wait until they drop and hit to the green. I drive the ball maybe 100 yds short. As we Drive up the 4-some behind us was wondering what was going on and where the 2 twosomes in front of us came from. We told them it was the 4 some split apart . As we approached our tee shots they started yelling at us again about rushing them and almost hitting them and ruining the game blah blah blah. After waiting for them to leave the green we proceed to iron/wedge on.
AS we pulled up to the green the 2 guys come back to the green and proceeded to yell at us some more. At one point we were all nose to nose (like a baseball player and an umpire). After that debat and they left the green all we could hear was them saying (purposly I'm Sure) how they are going to let us play through so they can drive the ball at us and not wait at all. So we finished putting the hole out and drove up to the club house to get a marshal or talk to the manager.
The club house listned quite well and did an excellent job cooling us down. They gave us a rain check and appolagized about the incident.
Maybe it is just me and maybe we did something completely wrong? But at no point did I feel we where pushing them. Hell I even waited on some reachable 4’s for them to put out and leave the green. I don’t ever recall hitting on close enough that I saw them turn the heads? I even remember on a blind par 5 driving up the fairway to check the swell to see if they were in there (Which coincidently was when we found them in the corn field and the partners where hitting up to the green). We then had to drive back down to the tee blocks where the group behind us was wondering WTF we were doing driving back and we had to explain to them.
I understand slow play (especially on a long weekend on a cheap course) and we were in no hurry (not that a 5hr round is acceptable).
Is it just me or should have the other 2 players stayed back so we could tell where they were? When we told/yelled back this idea we were informed they were playing ready golf??

That's the sign of a course that cares about what it's customers think. I fully believe that they did the right thing.
Titan, you should have just told him to let you play through - there'd be no chance of them hitting you, if they're in the trees that much...
You should have just throttled him. Having golfed with you, I know you're good about your pace and waiting for slow players, so I'm sure you weren't in the wrong. Eh, just throttle 'em next time... or join the girls

Once my friend and I were paired with two strangers that are less than cordial on the course. They continued their conversations when others are putting on the green.
So I put on a fake display of golf rage: After shanking my 3 iron on a long par 3, I threw my golf club on the ground and then used a few choice words. My diaplay wouldn't have won any acting awards (and my friend was laughing on the side), but it sure did quiet down the non-stop talkers.

I think I would do the same thing, "purposely" hit a bad shot and turn around and yell @ my buddy too stfu while im about to hit my shot. I actually play with someone regularly who throws his club after hitting a bad drive. Funny @ 1st but gets old really quickly. CONSIDERING HE HITS BAD SHOTS ALL the time !
