View Full Version : FS: Callaway 454 with Aldila NVS stiff

I have a very nice Callaway 454 driver, right hand, with an Aldila NVS stiff shaft which has been PURED and professionally installed. A very, very nice driver. I used it most of the summer and hit some of my longest drives ever.
Asking $200, and I will throw in the original Callaway regular flex shaft that the clubmaker extracted. This is a great deal and won't last too long. I will leave it on this forum for a week and then put on EBAY.
Can arrange pick up. I live in GTA. Pics attached.

AS OF 10PM SUNDAY, A SALE IS PENDING

Yes a deal was pending, that is until I received a curt "changed my mind, not selling" msg tuesday. This after we agreed I would come into TO from Kingston, which I did today, and now have to do again on fri.
This after I had sold my existing driver for cash towards the 454 purchase.
I have alway's found this 'community' to be friendly & fair until this experience, I would advise caution to anyone in deals with user.
Just my 2 cents.
p.s. will be reviewing for/sale listings as I have no driver.

If a deal has been agreed, then he is definately in the wrong. He should stick with the deal as agreed....regardless of whether he has changed his mind or not. One is permitted to change his/her mind before the deal, not afterwards.
Unfortunately, this happens from time to time.
Hope that you find a better driver from a more honest seller. :)

There are plenty of good guys/sellers on this board, I don't think you will have any trouble finding one. I saw his post, but also noticed he had only like 10 posts or something.....I tend to stay away from members like that, they more or less spell trouble when it comes to buying/selling.
You end up selling your i3's?
Good luck bro!

Thanks to David and Rac for your thoughts.
p.s. not sure if re i3's you were talking to me or david? The only irons I have had are mizuno mx20's and cally x18's.
I got an avalanche of low balls on the x18's so I stopped replying. not to be rude as I thought some were sincere. A golf teacher told me recently to work on my grip/swing a little more before making any judgements.
If the i3's comment wasn't directed at me...then sorry for the long winded reply :) Shark

I'd be interested in understanding GrahamK's POV of what transpired in this transaction and would be slow to broad-brush all newbies.
I do empathize with you because of your wasted time and travel expense esp. with the price $$$ of fuel these days.
Good luck in finding an appropriate driver.

I wouldnt base my trust merely on post counts, as Grahamk has been part of the forum since early this year. He might just be a lurker and prefers to read rather than to make useless posts to increase his post count.

You are probably right. The thing with buying and selling stuff on the internet, is communication. Dont just email and pm...pick up the phone and call the guy you are buying/selling to and get a better sense of confidence you arent going to get caught in a web of misunderstandings....

Well then my friend, you are a either a very trusting person, or have done very little in the form of buying and selling on golf forums. I respect your opinion HackNSLice, but have to strongly disagree with your view point.
I for one, speak from YEARS of experience in buying/selling golf equipment on assorted forums, on eBay and privately. I'll tell you one thing, post counts are the first thing I look for when dealing with someone. I've been screwed in the past from both sides of the fence, meaning low and high post counts, but the majority of the tire kickers and time wasters are the lurkers and low posters.
In my books, this is a clear case of "bust a deal, face the wheel". This guys obviously agreed to a price, therefore he should be selling the driver. Just by reading the thread to date and seeing that grahamk was logged on this morning and posted nothing in his defense, leads me to believe he is not one to deal with.
Cheers,

postcounts kinda over rated..
i would rather talk over the phone and get a feeling of the guy instead of using the post counts to help judge someone if you must say..
perfect example on this site theres been a lot of garbage posting going on
where people are just padding there post counts talking about nonsense that most people couldnt care about.
ive had many purchasing experiences on this site and other forums and ebay as well and most of the time its pretty good.
theres always some that back out last minute or somthing
you just never know.

Completely agree with Alien.
The main thing I try to do is talk on the phone. Easier to communicate. With email, PM, it's easier for the other party to ignore you. If you have their phone number, they will probably feel more accountable. Not to mention, you hear a human voice instead of a faceless stranger on the internet. It's a little more reassuring in my books.
Regardless, sorry to hear about your experience.

When a deal is made whether its thru email or the phone both parties should stick to it. You as the seller or buyer have to make your own judgement to see if the guy is legit or not. Ebay and heatware and any sort of referrals would be great.

Agree.....ebay feedback is always good...or check with his past dealings.....sooner or later this site will have a positive/negative feedback section.....I have enjoyed making deals with guys on this site, because everything is done in person, and there is never any misunderstandings........When a deal is made whether its thru email or the phone both parties should stick to it. I think its a good suggestion...and would be a good reference for future transactions. If someone has not done a deal before on this site, meeting in person removes any risk of a bad deal....unless the guy never shows up:eek: i mentioned this to mok..

The only thing I can see that might arise are buddies padding their friend's feedback. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, have a look at the HowardForum.com feedback section. I've had guys PM'ing me there before to pad their feedbacks for them in return for the same favour. Brutal.
Anyways, best thing to do is know who you are dealing with and always meet up if possible in a public place. Nothing worse than getting taken for a few hundred dollars b/c you chose to meet up at 11pm in some alley.

I would like to move on from this, I believe no reply over 8 days online shows no argument to simple facts.
THanks again to all for their advice. Its not the end of the world, I will find a driver, season's almost over, and I would still deal with the regulars I see on here with happy transactions all the time.
