What has happened to the management at Westview GC??? Are there new owners now? I just played there yesterday and I honestly say I was rather disappointed at their management. Isn't one of their main marketing promotions to be one of a few courses that offer unlimited golf for the day? I know its been a family business since Mr. Nisbet opened the course. I wonder if its still within the family.
My friends and I had organized a golf day for 12 people and were planning on playing 27 holes with different formats for each 9 with some small wagering on the table. After 18 holes we were told that we could NOT play 27 and when asked why not, they simply answered "its too our discretion". What kind of response is that? They should have told me when we were all paying our green fee's and given us the choice of continuing or not. Not after we finish 18 holes and paid our dues. They later said that because their twilight rates start at 1pm that we could not interfere with the twilight tee times. The proshop did not tell us this in the beginning and since I paid prime rates ($69) compared to the twilight rate of $50 shouldn't we get a little more respect? After some complaining and such by my friends, they accomodated by putting a 4 some on each different nine. A consolation on our part but still a little bothered by it as it affected the outcome of our small tournament.
I just question why they promote the "all you can play" if they don't honour it? Just makes me rethink about going back there anymore.

i had the same response once, and the only time i played there, my friend and I schedualed to play from the morning until sunset, or until our legs couldn't handle it anymore. false advertising!!!

I used to frequent Westview, but now, avoid it liek the plague...the course is not worth the wait, or the snotty nose reception typically received in the clubhouse. Too many other courses within 30 minutes from that track to put up with being made to feel like I am inconveniencing them by asking to pay to play their course.
Anything over 18 holes was always an adventure with the business of the course, but it was still a nice to have...I am disgusted by what courses charge for 2nd loops these days...

i can see this course getting a dramatic decrease in business after this post which is viewed by the fellow golf nuts on this site.
this will teach them not to false advertise! :nono:
i will tell my friend, and my friend will tell his friends, etc...bye bye Westview.

Used to be you could play as much as you wanted. Then last few years, it was based on priority where if people showed up having played less number of holes they would go first, but you could still continue to play. Now having read your post, sounds like you'll get a big hassle or no more golfing at all. :(

i played there earlier this season and got in 45-holes, no problemos.
(tip: slip the starter a 20 first thing in the morning as he wishes you a 'good day' ;) )

I have been playing at Westview for a number of years... only once have they ever asked us to wait longer to play a 3rd Nine - becuase it was really busy. Never have they told us we could not play.
When I play at Westview... it's for the sole purpose of playing more than 18 holes... Strange, never had a problem with this.

I've only had that problem once (same time as Mike), but it sure was annoying, because we had a group of guys all there to play 27+ holes. The course is pretty good, but like Mike, I don't usually play there unless I decide the night before that I'm going to play, or I going for the marathon.

I played there a few times before and was never told that I could not play more than 18, but that was two years ago. I remember I played 36 holes from morning till late afternoon. I even asked one of the starters there yesterday that for future reference if I did not tee off before 1pm that I could basically forget 27 let alone 36 and he said "yes". I even asked him if I waited until all the twilight golfers to tee off first than could I jump on? He answered with a smirk and said "sometimes we have tee times for up to an hour so if you can wait an hour, you can". To me, thats not a good answer especially when you have 3 nines.

I heard so much about Westview and its all-you-can-play policy over the years. Finally I played there last month. Given that the course is rather hilly, walking is not exactly the best way to navigate.
Overall, I find the course over-rated given the hypes I've been hearing.
I was tipped by the marshalls that the best time to play is weekdays morning, and definitely not weekends.

Played there recently, and I don't call even call their fairways "fairways", more like here's another ball in a divot.

Westview is a long time sentimental favourite of mine. Do they really advertise "all you can play"? - I've never seen any sign or statement to that effect.
Nonetheless, I've played more than 18 several times and never had a problem. Obviously, if new players are backed up waiting to tee off, they can't allow players coming off 18 to play through. This would not make any business sense.
It is only practical when there is room on the course.
The main reason I like Westview is that there are no tee times - just show up
and have at it. There are no "ladies leagues", rarely ever any corporate tournaments - so I don't show up after work and get turned away as sometimes happens at Shawneeki and Pheasant Run (although PR is awesome).

I've always got the feeling that the people in the clubhouse there had a bit of "nose in the air" attitude too. The course is decent, but not outstanding, I've always felt.
