I know this is a depressing thought and there is still lots of golf left this year but I am curious as to what other golfers do during the winter months. Do you play Hockey, cards, shuffleboard, etc...

To keep myself busy during the looonnnng winter months, I am a ski instructor part time at the local club. The pay isn't great, but it's a heck of a lot of fun and I get to ski for free. :)
I usually end up sneaking in a mid-winter round at Camisle or Grand Valley too.

Bowling, hit the dome once in a while and lucky for me, I get down south usually at least once per winter on business.
Otherwise, I pretty much sit on the couch, watch my beloved Maple Leafs and dream of spring.:p

Stick to the skiing, if chicopee can get any natural snow fall.

I go to one of those indoor golf simulators about once a week. Usually see noback there, who I think only goes home about once a week! I also go to the indoor range fairly often too.
Other than that I referee broomball. That keeps me busy a couple of nights a week and helps pay for the golf.

workout @ gym 3 or 4 times weekly. 30 min to an hour of cardio work (treadmill or elliptical m/ch) then 30 min of strength training alternating between lower and upper body.
This winter I'm gonna set up a hitting net in my backyard too!:)

For a couple of years, I'd been playing in a simulator league through the winter to keep the swing going. I didn't play last year, but I'm definitely going to do something this year. Golf season is way too short in this part of the world.

I normally fly South a few times between Nov to Feb to play.
Also, I typically will lose all the techniques I learned and start all over again like a new golfer every spring.

Play hockey twice a week, go to the gym and try to hit the range once a week.
For anyone who has been part of the indoor simulator leagues, what are they like? And who in the Toronto area has them?

Stick to the skiing, if chicopee can get any natural snow fall.Heh, never heard that nickname for the course before. I look at it as being better than nothing, and better than the Sportsworld indoor bubble which gets astronomically expensive in the winter. :nono:
As for Chicopee, they have some of the best quality snowmaking and grooming in the province, so conditions are surprisingly good. They may not get the most natural snowfall, but they make the most of what they get.

For example, in real life, I know I cannot hit my 8 iron 250 yards (which is what the simulator determined happened to my ball on one of the holes @ Pebble. .... I hit it way way over the green!!!

Curl, curl, curl. Usually 3 to 4 times a week and bonspiels on weekends. Works out to 100+ games a year. Really nothing like golf but it still takes touch, control and concentration to be a good curler. I find many top curlers are top golfers as well. Russ Howard, who many of you may have heard of, is a golf pro in New Brunswick. The big difference is you can't really make a living curling. All of the top players have full time jobs as well. Myself, I am a much better curler than golfer. But for those of you who have seen me golf, that's not really hard to believe!

Do You know what simulators (manufacture) they are using up there? I checked their website but it didn't say.

Indoor golf sims and booze for me :D. Used to play hockey but the late night games are just murder if you have to get up in the morning to go to work. We'd have some games at 11:30pm during the week. Not sure if it's just me, but there's no way I can sleep after a game. Feel way too wired.

Eat, get fat!
Then I ride the excersise bike.:)
Surf the net. (way too much time on my hands)
Watch local JR B hockey and now that the NHL is back I can watch that too.
Work ( OK, lately work has been part time due to slow auto sales, but that's ok, I don't mind staying home and getting paid:) )
Spend quality time with my wife (after playing 165 rounds last year I had a lot of quality time to make up!)
Go out to the local golf store about once a week and drool:tongue:
Last but the most important thing, I try not to go :cookoo: from not being able to TEE IT UP!

By about the end of Feb, I'm :cookoo: every year from not playing. Even when I played in a simulator league, by the end of Feb, I was sick of playing golf in a cave.

I can tell you what I'd like to do, but for the most part I just bundle up and stay home. :$
Hopefully, if I get off my lazy bum, I'll actually go snowboarding and learn to carve, learn to skate, learn to ski (yes, amazing that I'm Canadian), try to go to the ice wine festival again, go vacationing in the sun, and of course, hit the indoor range.

A nice glass of Colli Senesi Chianti, or a fine Stoli martini, and reflect on the six or seven great shots I hit during the season...ah, always next year...
