Ok then, it has been suggested, so here ya go.:D
How do you know it's yours? How do you mark YOUR golf balls?
Been playing Titleist for years. My playing partners know this and they know my line. Others I play with are also very consistant and deliberate. One uses that ball marking machine and ends up with a line around his ball. Another uses only Stratas with a blue a dot marked on it, and so on ...............

I take that tool that can draw a straight line 1/2 around my ball. Everywhere I go my playing partners ask if I'm using range balls. But when it comes down to putting that line works wonders. No pic sorry.

happy face.
face down when i putt but hopefully smiling when i find it in the woods.
i would not even consider messing myself up by using a line on a ball to line up my putt. i know it works for some but not me. apparently duffy waldorf has the most unbelievable and wild markings drawn on his golf balls but i haven't seen one.

Same thing here, but I saw a Pro from a club up in Peterborough just cover his ball with purple dots. Strangest marking I've seen.

I bought one of these "CheckGo"s and thought it suuuuuuucked. I might have been using a defective one, or badly lopsided balls but when I tried it, I basically ended up with a ball with a 2cm band around it because the ball was wobbling so bad.
Do these actually make a nice thin(ner) line around the ball if they are working?

TKOE,
I just did four dozen balls last weekend. Two things, you need work on a flat surface and you only need to touch the tip of the marker to the ball. I always use a sharpie after to darken the line.

I've been considering getting one of those "Check-go" contraptions, but I'm not sure it will be any better than what I'm doing right now. For the past few years, I've been using the Dave Pelz method.....dropping the ball in a solution of epson salts and water and spinning the ball, then marking the top with a dot when the ball stops spinning. It has worked very well (some of the mid-high end balls I've used were really lopsided!). After marking it, I use a Sharpie to draw a line and use that for putting. I'm not sure the device will do any better, just faster and not so messy!

Thanks,
Either the check go or the method Goshawk mentions (I tried it once the wife moved me from the living room to the kitchen in seconds) can't hurt. Unfortunately golf balls are not perfectly round. Hence, the weight is not perfectly centered. If you can find the heaviest part of the ball and make it go end over end when teeing off and putting, chance is, it will not pull itself off line. Odds say it can't hurt.

I have taken my most unbalanced ball (a very old Titleist), after marking the heaviest side in the solution, and rolled it on my living room carpet (fairly level and no bumps). When rolled over the marked line 10 times, it went about as straight as I could get it to roll. When the marked point was on the side, it pulled about 3 inches to that side (that was rolled 8 feet on the carpet). Put the marked point on the opposite side and repeated, it pulled about the same distance to that side. Now, I don't have the putting version of an "Iron Byron", but I was impressed by the results.

Na.....I just use the range balls with a red or green stripe so it doesn't conflict with the black marker. I wasn't born yesterday!:)

You have to let it spin until it's at its max RPM and then keep you finger on the button and mark the ball while it's spinning at full speed or it doesn't work. I found that out the hard way!

Has anyone ever tried to use the check go on a ball after you've marked it and then hit it once? I would think after the first hit, you'd find a new balance point... maybe someone could try it out and let us know. If a ball retains the same balance point after getting hit, then I might have to go out and get one of those things.

I do it often. After a round with the same ball the line wears off. I put it back in the check-go. I have found little or no difference on my Cally's, ProV's or one of my new fav's the Bridgestone B330's. I can't comment on any other types of balls.

funny thing is the guy who retrieves all the balls at my course asked me not to put so many spots on my balls as he was having trouble cleaning them off........:D .he did say it in fun!
although if you ever need to clean felt tip/marker off a ball use nail polish remover!

I don't have a check-go but I just take a black Sharpie and draw a line over the text that's usually on the ball. For example, I play Maxfli Noodles and I draw a line that goes about 1/3 of the circumference of the ball overtop of the putter's line, making it darker and easier for me to line up putts. I also make the line pretty thick so I can tell it's my ball from a distance...
It's pretty distinctive and I can see if it's my ball easily
So don't copy me!!! ;)
