here's when you are thankful you invested in some good BREATHEABLE rain gear.

Get out there and enjoy the testosterone-rush as you challenge the course AND the elements in an epic Man vs. Nature struggle for supremacy.
(also suggest you use a tether-strap around you clubs in case they slip outta your hands ... wouldn't want you to lose your favorite club into a lake;) ... or have you watch your pitching wedge sail through the clubhouse window overlooking #18!)

Change channels to The Golf Channel...

Yeah, it's not looking too good for the next couple of days. I don't care to play in the rain, but will, unless there's lightning. Mind you, I have a good umbrella, a couple of towels and rain gloves (without rain gloves, I wouldn't play as my grips slip - highly recommend putting a pair of rain gloves in your bag, if you haven't already).

Hopefully it blows over by the time you go out. Keep your eye on www.weatherunderground.com (http://www.weatherunderground.com) (click NEXRAD and choose the Buffalo radar, for a good view of realtime activity - TWN.ca delays are NFG, IMO)

Good luck.

LOL!! We'll be lucky to hit 20 today.

I've gotten so used to the hot humid weather this year, I'm ready to retire in Florida...

Played Silver Lakes today - started raining on 8, and it was a constant rain the rest of the way - only the 2nd time all year i have played in the rain - I have 45 rounds in, so i count myself as lucky.

With November looming on the calendar, have to get the rounds in. We had a cart - which makes it incredibly better to manage - but for those with plans to play in rain, I recommend bringing - beyond the obvious:

Couple towels
Extra rainshirt
Two hats
Clothes for afterwards - I forgot this and the drive home was no fun!
Chamois - these are great in the rain

If you don't have rain gloves, bring a J-cloth and wrap it around the grip before each shot. Works pretty well, especially with soft grips like mine. If I don't have my rain gloves, I also find it better to play without gloves at all.

As for rain, I play so much that if it rains, round no.75 can wait.:D
Although I do stock up for tournament play with all the rain gear neccessary.

Is that not against the rules? No it is not.

Rule 14-3 Artificial Devices & Unusual Equipment

Except as provided in the Rules, during a stipulated round the player must not use any artificial device or unusual equipment:
a. That might assist him in making a stroke or in his play; or
b. For the purpose of gauging or measuring distance or conditions that might affect his play; or
c. That might assist him in gripping the club, except that:

(i) plain gloves may be worn;
(ii)) resin, powder and drying or moisturizing agents may be used; and
(iii)) a towel or handkerchief may be wrapped around the grip.

great.. now not only has rain ruined my day but i did something stupid to prevent me from playing today/tomorrow (geez im so anxious to play)

while it was raining on fri morning i decided to head to the gym cause the summer has been a time drain and ive been lazy too. (2 months since).

had a good workout.

then i wakeup sat morning and my arms/chest are KILLING me ... stupid stupid me. i forgot the soreness/stiffness that comes afterwards especially after a 2 month rest from working out (usually its mild and doesn't bother me during 18 holes).

i decided against tuffing it out, since i think a big part of golf is 'feel', and having really sore and stiff arms/chest wont help.

now its sunday and it still hurts ... sigh.

The site I quoted worked 2 weeks ago. I guess they are changing things around.
Anyway thanks for the update. They make really good stuff. My son tried on the FootJoy off the rack once and nothing fit. The salesman said just dome it all up. Ya, like that would feel real nice. So he got the custom fitted Seaforth gear, and its great.
