Played Oliver's Nest today and had a group in front of that was unbearably slow. Caused our group to clock in a 5 1/2 hr round and everyone behind us for that matter.
Totally screwed up my game. Waited almost 20 minutes on one fairway alone. I was lying down on the fairway getting a nice tan though  .
These guys were in carts as well. I wanted to walk up to these clowns, take their god damn clubs from them, throw them in the pond, and tell them to take up something like knitting - not that there's anything wrong with that :hush: .
I HATE SLOW PLAY!!!!!!
So, if you and your group teed off at Oliver's Nest on Sunday Sept 18 at ~9am... Man, you morons just ruined my day because... you are tools of the day!!!

The only thing worse that being stuck behind them was watching them while stuck behind them. One guy putts, misses, the next guy takes a few minutes to line up his put, putts, misses, etc. I don't have a problem with people being out on the course who don't play very well, but keep the pace so as not to destroy a perfectly good round for the people behind you. Even the beginner we had with us today was frustrated by the pace.
Tools of day? I'm thinking tools of the week!

Played a tourney this weekend and our foursome consisted of 2 high and 2mid cappers. Being 1 of those high cappers I've learned how to play ready golf whether Im carting or not. When im carting I take more than enough clubs just to make sure! But anyways the other high capper who must of shot in the 120's was noticeably keeping pace with our foursome. He wasnt rushing but at the same time he didnt take 3mins to adress his ball take 3 practice swings and waggle the club some more. He didnt have to take his sweet *** time reading every piece of grass on the green!! But yeah I've had my fair share of 5 1/2hr+ rounds and boy does it suck when your stuck behind a slow group who thinks their playing on the PGA tour.
I think they should teach etiqutte before they even let you pickup a golf club!!

I do agree with that, but it's still frustrating when you should have been home an hour earlier than you did because some clowns thought the golf course was their personal, private playground.

My experience with Ollie's Nest is that Golf Course Management may at least be partially to blame.:$
My experience ...
I went to their website a week in advance to book a tee-time.
I was pleased when they responded within 24hours to confirm my booking in the timeslot I was looking for.
I printed off the confirmation and shoved it into my golfbag for reference.
I show up @ the pro-shop and yes, they have my name on the list with the correct tee-time and everything .. so far, so good.
We spend a bit of time @ the driving range (crappy range balls!!!) some time putting to get a feel for the greens, then head to the first tee @ 7-minutes before our tee-time.
The starter scans his clipboard .... "Nope, I don't see you on here gentlemen. Let me see what I can do as a favor to you to 'squeeze you in'."
Luckily, we went off slightly ahead of our tee-time without delay (looks like the group behind us was late) and had a 2some in front of us so we were able to finish our round on that weekday morning afternoon in 4.5hours.
However, I can definitely see how a Pro-Shop-to-Starter communication breakdown could translate into a over-capacity golf course and slow play.
I will not comment at this point on the patron contribution to slow play as that topic seems to be well covered. :)

Agree. The marshalls should've, could've done something but.... these wingnuts knew damn well that they were slowing things to a crawl. They are not newbie's. They are a known entity out there based on comments from the other groups that we talked to... That is what makes them complete TOOLS!

Yup. I might even put the course on the boycott list because the marshall's didn't do a thing. I hate agressive marshalls as much as the next guy, but sometimes a group needs to be told to get their a** in gear.

i shot one near them while they were in a slump of a long fairway probably 270+
my ball got close rolling near them and the ****ers kept my ball

I thought this tread was on golf tools? b/c the other day i was golfing with this guy and he had yardage binoculars. I was pretty impressed with this gadget, too bad it costs $200:eek:. So you guys are saying 5.5hrs from the pro tees while walking with a 40lbs bag on your back is too slow? I play ready golf and all but I'm not running to my ball. I'm kidding, 5.5 hrs is death with a bag on your back

You are lucky all they did was keep your ball. If you'd hit it a little better, you could have done some serious damage. I hate slow play too, but it's not really punishable by death.
To my groups credit, no one even came close to hitting a ball near these guys.
