Anyone play there recently? Howz the conditions of the track? Anyone have any opinions of this course in general? I may go there with an associate of mine from work.....

Heading there this Friday, can report with condition. This is my first visit there, but my friend had good reviews about it. I'm a little skeptical, due to TGN members past experiences, but I'll find out first hand.

There are lots of mixed reviews. Personally I like Royal Ontario and have had nothing but positive experiences there. The course is in good shape, the layout is challenging....depending on what tees you play. Great variety of holes. Short holes are made difficult with tough greens.
Search other threads for reviews.

I'm with Ronny on this track (see: "Courses you Boycott" thread), it's nice enough, although not worth the money they charge, pace was SLOW, Marshals were bothersome...me and my 'regular group' said we 'won't be in a hurry back' (but, I guess ya gotta find out for yourself!)

Conditions and overall layout is nice, greens undulating, generally quite fast for a course that gets a lot of traffic. It is not long, but demands very accurate 2nd shots. They have 17 great holes and 1 that doesn't seem to belong.
In general, this is one of the more challenging courses in the GTA, which explains the knock about slow play (most play the blues - 136 slope). The fees are reasonable compared to other area mid to upper-end tracks considering they bundle cart, range, snack etc.

Range? Where you can't hit WOODS!!???

Played there yesterday as a corporate guest.
The starter was nice and pleasant - free water and snacks. No marshalls even come close to us.
Finished the round in 4.5 hours - most time were wasted in the first few holes when the fog was too dense to find balls after tee shots.
I'd say the fairway condition was decent to good. Green was a bit slow but it is to be expected since there were heavy dew in the morning. But speed was consistent.
It is definitely a second-shot course.
With rating of 136 from the blue tees, I think it is a good and challenging course.

Okay, so i'm finally home from my golf outting at Royal Ontario. Just wanting to quickly say that previous posts were dead on with regards to the long, long waits on the course. Our tee time was for 11:00 AM and we 'promptly' tee'd off the first hole at 11:26AM. Now I must say that is ridiculous for a course where you pay $108 plus tax.
Nobody was near the bag drop area to help us unload our bags as advertised on their website. Usually I'm perfectly capable of doing this myself, but when one of their selling points on their website is 'private club' service at a public course setting, this was disappointing.
I must say the fairways are in decent condition and the greens for the most part were well kept. But when you have to wait at every single tee box, it can get frustrating.
We finished our round in just under 5 1/2 hrs.
Summary, nice course, but forgettable experience. I definitely would spent my golfing money at other courses which are equally nice (or better) than Royal Ontario.
Hope that helps.
