I am in a tournament at Eagles Nest in Vaughan on Monday. Can anyone in this forum give me some tips ...
for example how do you play the third hole down the big hill?? How far extra does the ball carrry?
Anything would be helpful. :help:
Many thanks :p:p

Thanks for the tip. i will email otisCheck your PM's Fuzzy.
The one thing I forgot to mention in it is that they have a very nice practice facility to warm up at.
Take advantage of it.

You could also bring me along as a playing partner and I'd be happy to point out all the dangers :D

Depending on what tees you play from, consider hitting fairway woods off the tee on 2 and 4, 6,7, and 10. Everything else you can pretty much bomb away with driver. Don't underclub on 5-- you can't recover if you miss the green right and short. Similar case on 13. Don't bother trying for the right fairway on 17 unless you are pretty accurate with your drive. Play the left side on 18 -- and take the water out of play. You can recover if you are short of the green -- but not if you are in the water!

The best advice I can give you is stay the hell out of the bunkers.
Seriously, some of them are unreal.
I know... easier said than done right.. :D
3rd hole, aim well left to keep from going towards the road or ob. The crosswind, if there is one will catch the ball and push it right.
As for a carry, the elevation change shouldn't stop you from hitting driver or 3 wood off the tee.
It's still a solid par 4.
On 5, check your distance carefully. The yardages posted on the sign can be confusing and if you aren't careful, you will under club yourself.
On 6, a 3-wood off the tee and avoid going too far left. It's a relatively easy approach to the hole but don't go over the back..
On 7, pay attention to the contours on the green especially if you're in the back portion or it that's where the pin is placed.
I completely misread my putt here the first time I played it and ended up 3 putting when I was only 10 feet away to begin with.
On 10, whatever the hell you do, make sure you keep it in the fairway and be careful with your line off the tee. Don't try and cut the corner too much or you'll be wet. Anything right ends up in hell... the fairway waste bunkers and the greenside bunker in the front right are downright evil.
On 12, depending on how far you hit the ball, take it either right over top of the 'spectacles' or start your ball off to the left of them and shape it so it ends up to the right of them.
On 15, don't underclub yourself... it's every bit of the yardage to make the green.
On 16, be careful of how much of the waste bunker you try to cut off off the tee.. Just put it into the fairway and play it as as a 3 shot to reach the green par 5. There's too much trouble lurking down the right.
On 17, don't try to carry the waste bunker off the tee.. stay to the left. With the length of this hole, it's pretty much a given that you're not going to reach the green in 2.
On 18.. just keep it dry.
All of the greens when I played there (I haven't played there since August) were 100 true. True greens with consisten speeds throughout.
They hold the ball well too.
Hope some of that helps you.
Personally, I love the course but it will jump up and bite you in the *** if you're not in the fairway.

Well, I was thinking of inviting tiger woods and letting him handle a few shots for me .... only so much room on my golf cart :)

Thanks for the good advice. I will post my result on Monday night or Tuesday to let you know how it went

Just finished playing eagles nest today. The greens are quite fast so be very cautious of them, The 3rd hole, driver and rip it over the big tree on the left, from there you can play an easy 6 or 7 onto the green and have a nice chance at a birdie. I would forget bringing Tiger to help you out especially if you catch one of those nice DEEP bunkers, a backhoe would be a much better choice to have.
As Otis said you need to keep the drives in the fairway, the ruff is playable but does take some real yardage off your shots.
Overall the course was in excellent condition and very challanging to say the least. The marshalls were pretty decent today and the beer cart girls, well, i'll let you decide but i will say they do distract you from your game although i'm not complaining.

Thanks for the advice on the third hole, I will look for the tree (and the beer cart) :nono:
